This place is a tourist trap.. prices crazy for the quality that you take back! We had mixed cheeses ( i guess by that they mean grana padano...) 2 glasses of wine and sausage with polenta (burned)...

Just back from a Venetian holiday and we ate here three times. The food is excellent, and for vegetarians plenty of choice. As with nearly all Italian restaurants the tables are a bit too close, but the service was friendly and helpful. We would certainly recommend.

Despite being close to Rialto and on one of the main tourist runs through the city, this is a nice restaurant serving good food at a reasonable price. It's fairly small (with no outdoor seating), so it can get a bit busy if you leave it too late in the evening, but the atmosphere is good and the service is... More

We were celebrating our 50th Wedding Anniversary, and couldn't have had a better atmosphere. The food was good and overall a great evening.

On our last visit we ate here three times and every meal was excellent. This time we only had time for lunch which was delicious eg black polenta topped with delicious brown shrimps, just gorgeous. My husband also had a fish related pasta dish and was very impressed. Service was excellent - slow - well this is Italy and they... More

Venice had been a joy, the greatest weather to complement a visit to celebrate a 30th wedding anniversary with some very close friends. After a number of genuinely good meals-see other reviews-on our last day having absorbed a lot of Tintoretto, we came across La Patatina. Wonderful Gnocci with Crab a superb Fritto Misto and a bottle of delicious Soave... More

Mediocre food. Aggressive staff demanding cash payment citing "line bad". Stated no cash and suddenly machine works. No goodbyes. Hidden cover charges.

If you are in Venice it's easy to find very good restaurants. La Patatina is one of them. Good food, good wine, good service in a typical venetian envoirment. Small place but very cozy. Truly recommended.

This restaurant was a recommendation of our hotel receptionist. He suggested for a slap up evening meal you could expect to pay around 70 euros per head. We decided to try it at lunch instead and we had a fantastic meal! I had a gnocchi dish with dolcelatte sauce and crispy pancetta lardons, and my other half had the clam... More

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
