Went for a quick snack. wanted to listen to the musicians playing even thou it was 6 euro per person music charge. Food was lovely but I was disappointed with the staff this time - quite arrogant. It does not detract from the atmosphere thou sitting in the square listening to music and having lunch. A must do

Our tour took a nighttime tour of St. Marks Square, seeing all the historic sights by moonlight. And then, at the conclusion of the walking tour, we stopped in at Caffe Florian for some adult beverages. We sat under the portico and listened to the four-piece ensemble play some of Italy's favorite songs. There was dancing and moonlight, almost like... More

Went for the high recomm. Been to some tea house in Russia before so feel the room deco is just avg compared to the value you pay. Order a tiramisu and a mint hot Choco and sit there for an hour. Very touristy :/ How is the food? Honestly I can't tell any single difference from dessert offered at a... More

We had looked forward to drinks in St Marks square and the Florian does not disappoint. We chose a table by the orchestra ordered our drinks and just sat and enjoyed the moment. We were told anywhere you drink in St Marks square is expensive but we were pleasantly surprised. Ok it's not cheap but I do think you get... More

Caffe Florian is a piece of history. Situated in the middle of St. Marks Square, with music playing in the evening, sitting at an outdoor table it is like being in a romantic movie. Do not think that you can sit there and enjoy the atmosphere without buying something though. The tables are reserved for patrons and not just a... More

We received very personable service when we had lunch in the Florian for my wife's 60th birthday, the waiters being attentive and respectful. The lunch was excellent. The decor and surroundings are very atmospheric, obviously being in St Marks Square it is frequented mainly by tourists like ourselves so you don't visit expecting it to be like a 'local' restaurant.... The desserts at Cafe Florian are extraordinary as are the coffee drinks. We found the service to be quick & efficient. We sat indoors. We've stopped at Cafe Florian every time we've been in Venice and each time has been a great experience. The prices are a bit higher but we didn't stop here for a deal, we stopped here... More

An ancient city with beautiful palaces and famous .. cafe :). A special place for drinking coffee, tea and an aperitif with incredibly delicious desserts. The shabby- chic inside caffe and the modern menu .. very attractive place. Here you can order light snacks and enjoy just looking at the interior. After that, you can go shopping or walking in... Well if you want to pay 10 euro for a coffee with some birds on your table you need to wait more than 10 minutes for a waiter to appear. There are many squares in Europe, some with higher and some will lover pricing, but for sure better service.

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
