Lovely place, great location, close to the city center. Fresh fish, excellent wine, very friendly staff - offered us extra appetizers - which were very much appreciated. Our first time here, hoping to return soon.

We decided to try the restaurant of the hotel we were staying in after noticing some good reviews. We weren't disappointed. Their menu is not super extensive, but what they do have is delicious. We both ordered a first course of pasta, both delicious and well portioned, followed by a second course of meat and fish. Both were superbly cooked... More

We ate here twice during our stay at the Katane Palace Hotel, where the restaurant is located. We thoroughly enjoyed all our choices and also the wine chosen with the advice of our server. Very welcoming and a lovely open courtyard for aperitifs or coffee. Portions are generous so we shared a starter. A free antipasto was given. Not expensive,... More

Nice enough meal on a rainy January evening when you don't really feel like traipsing around dark and wet streets

What a wonderful experience my friend and I had in Catania when we took a cooking class with chef Giulio and prepared food at his restaurant “Il Cuciniere”. The day started with a visit to the pescheria and then a walking tour of Catania with his wife Valeria who recommended places to see during our short visit to Catania. We... More

We had a nice evening and meal for New Year, the cost was quite a bit more than other restaurants in the area (100 Euros per person including drinks) but it was still cheaper than an equivalent restaurant at home. We booked before we travelled to Catania and Valeria was very helpful. It was a set menu, predominantly fish and... More

We spent the most informative, fascinating 6 hour cooking class with Chef Giulio and his wonderful wife, Valeria, at their Il Cuciniere Restaurant in Catania. They walked us through the busy fish markets to select the sardines, anchovies, prawns, squid, swordfish and tuna then on to the fruit and vege markets to choose pomegranates, pears, pistachios, mandarins, smoked ricotta and... Seated in a beautiful backyard garden promised a nice evening. In total it was fulfilled. We chose 4 course menu, whereof two of us selected fish and teenagers went for meat and vegetarian. Chef then decided details. First dishes produced excellent mood for us all. Then came a surprisingly compact fish spaghetti mix which simply was a unsuccessful experiment? Waiter... More

I tend to skip restaurants inside hotels, not sure there is a good reason though. Arrived Catania rather late and tired after flight and long drive so paying a visit to the hotel's restaurant seemed a viable option. It was better then expected with well prepared modern Italian cuisine.
