We paused for an aperitif and a rest around 7:00 p.m. and stayed on for a delicious, simple dinner. Sitting outside, we had Home made ""Pasta alla Chitarra" , served with an unusual citrus sauce - I'd never heard of this combination, and it was perfection. The taste was of early spring! Exceptional wine selection. Both outdoor and indoor seating.... More

Got there at 12 on the way down from Piazzale michaelangelo and San Miniato. 30 mins later it was full. Well outside anyway. Also comfortable inside. Great lunch spot. Staff can be a little inattentive. Either that or the sniffy couple next to us had posed them off. We had a nice mixed Crostini and wine and were on our... More

Great service and excellent menu. The bread soup and bruschetta were surprisingly delicious. Our server was attentive and accommodating to our divergent levels of Italian language skill. Decent prices, laid back casual atmosphere with good lighting.

Stopped whilst walking up the hill for a light lunch. We both had pumpkin risotto and a glass of wine. The wine was an easy drinking white and fine. The risotto looked appetising and colourful, however it lacked seasoning and so I put lots of Parmesan but still had to find the salt for it to have more than a... More

The crostini are sizable - each one is enough for a meal. We tried the liver pate crostini - they were just okay. However, the cheese and bacon bruschetta and the truffle and mushroom crostini with mozzarella were delicious. All this complemented by a 1/2 liter of a very good Brunello.

We were going to try Zeb but no space and slightly offhand response to questions- they don't need our custom and too meat-based although appeared on vegetarian listing. We set off up the hill to the spectacular views at viale Michelangelo but half way up found this place. Friendly woman booked us a table for our return from sight seeing.... More

Had dinner at this neighborhood eatery, was pleasantly surprised as it appears at first glance to be more of a wine bar. The servers were pleasant and efficient, the wine was excellent and the food was delicious. The tomato bread soup was very good as an appetizer and the linguine and clam sauce was great. All the entrees we tried... More

On the lovely lively terrace. Big choice of crostinos (the trufle version was Great) tartaro, and fine wines.

You have to book, which thankfully we did as we saw many turned away as it was full. It had rained during the day, but some brave souls took seats outside, so keen were they to sample this kitchen. And we discovered why. Excellent meal, wine, service and atmosphere, all at reasonable cost. Not at all pretentious, everything was good.... More

Staying in Piazzale Michelangelo

Neighbourhood Profile
Piazzale Michelangelo
Just outside the ancient walls of Florence, Viale Michelangiolo starts. It is a winding road rimmed by wonderful poplars and holm oaks. The long ascent opens up to the most beautiful and famous panoramic viewpoint of Florence: Piazzale Michelangelo, where an elevated terrace offers visitors an incomparable and breathtaking view of the entire city from above. During good weather, Piazzale Michelangelo provides visitors with a serene space surrounded by the amazing landscape, better if accompanied by a fresh gelato from a local kiosk. During night, visitors will be dazzled by the warm lights of the capital of the Renaissance. Spend a second with the silent Romanesque beauty of the Basilica of San Miniato al Monte: the one that wishes good morning and good night to Florence!
