This restaurant was close to our hotel. It was recommended and we received a 10% discount. The menu is extensive but you really should try the tagliata - a twist on a regional speciality. It was stunning! Mum had the pistachio creme brulee (Italian equivalent dish). It was sublime. service excellent. Recommended

A very pleasant surprise in this Trattoria close to Firenze (Florence), Italy that served up Bistecca alla Fiorentina. On the bone aged steak cooked to medium rare is a must for the discerning meat lover. For me it had to be washed down with Chianti. Perfecto...

Found this little gem by chance, walked in off the street to be made very welcome from the staff. The local cuisine was amazing, clearly use fresh ingredients and really took pride in what they were serving. Our waiter Beppe was first class, true professional who has worked in some leading restaurants around the world. Went out of his way... More

The concierge at our hotel suggested this local restaurant. Food was delicious, plentiful and reasonably priced. Staff was friendly, helpful and patient with us (2 non-Italian speaking visitors to Florence). We highly recommend it!

Saw reports and as it was next door to hotel tried it. The food is excellent quality at a fair price, the house wine likewise was very drinkable and reasonably priced. The downside is the service lots of staff but difficult to get one to serve you, culminated in the last night when they lost our order completely. It was... More

Lovely genuine Italian near station. A three course meal with house wine for 2 worked out at 60 euro. Lots of locals eating there so always a good sign. If your hotel is near you can also order pizza for take away.

On our first and second visit everything went smoothly. The set menu is very value for money and sweets are a bit pricey. We noticed that we got better service when ordering higher priced meals.

Meet & greet was very welcoming. A very good atmosphere & venue. Toscana chicken liver pate starter was superb. Spaghetti, meatballs & salad was Italian. Superb. With 2 litres of house wine, what a great second evening. JMc

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
