Wife and I on sightseeing trip to Florence saw an empty table at L'opera Cafe in the sun (in October) and fancied some pizza and wine. Quite abrupt attitude of waiter; everything seemed too much trouble. Bottle of vino and 2 glasses plomped on table along with large pizza a few minutes later. Wine was just palatable; pizza was OK,... More

My mom and I went for a walk one evening at 830pm. My mom felt cold and wanted a soup. We unfortunately stopped at this place. What a disgrace. The service was terrible. The waitress kept asking what you want, what you want. We said we needed to look at the menu. After my mom ordered, she said it took... More

Found that the panini shops closed by 7:00 pm. It was a hot day so we wanted to eat when it was cooler. It was a short 5 minute walk from our hotel. This was the ideal location after a cool shower. I had the special that night which was lasagna ( probably the special every night). My wife had... More

We were looking for a nice bar by the Duomo to have a cocktail and found this place with a large variety of cocktails so we stopped to look at the list for a couple of minutes and within 5 minutes we were badgered by the same waitress several times to know what we'd like even after saying we were... Can't beat the view sitting in front of The Duomo. The pizza had a really thin crusty base and is one of the better ones I've tasted. Prices are a bit high but that's what you pay for people watching at the Duomo. Would probably go back to try the pizza again.

We stopped here to have a drink as the location was brilliant opposite the Duomo. The drinks were ok, a bit overpriced. Our service was so so but we overheard the waiter and waitress being very rude to a table near us, bluntly telling the customers they couldn't understand what they were saying (in actual fact their English was impeccable),... Normally I write positive reviews but this time I'm sorry to have to be negative about this place. Located directly behind the Duomo next to the Opera del Duomo Museo, this looked like the perfect place to sit outside, enjoy some refreshment, soak in some sun and watch people go by. A waiter appeared and took my order with a... More

Stopped off for a drink. Staff were polite and friendly and the service was good. Ok price wise as well considering its location. Would stop off again...

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
