We discovered La Grotta di Leo in our first night in Florence and we came back each night throughout the holiday. We've eaten several times here and we had very good meals each time, it's a lovely combination of simplicity and great flavors. The service is very attentive, friendly and efficient. Definitely a place to recommend and come back :)

Appealing rustic decor, friendly waiters, nice menu and not too squashed in. Returned there twice. Popular.

We found it because our hotel is just a few doors up from it. It's fabulous! The quality of the food is superbly fresh and tasty matched by speedy and friendly service at a very reasonable price. We paid for breakfast to be included in the hotel but it was really poor so we came here for breakfast and asked... More

"La bistecca Fiorentina" with the potatoes and the wine of the house was very good. Tiramisù was good. Staff was friendly. The place itself nice. I recommend it.

The food was good, the service friendly and effective and it is not overpriced at all. They DO NOT charge for the cutlery and services like many places in Italy, so you pay what you see. We had beef (alla fiorentina), pasta and caprese and everything was really tasty!

This restaurant was a quick walk from the apartment we rented in Florence. So we had takeout food for dinner from this place... twice! Yes, it was that good. We had pasta dishes the first time and the second time, we tried their pizza. We should have tried the desserts. Oh well. Excellent restaurant and a quick walk from the... More

My boyfriend and I stayed at the hotel Montreal which is like 30metres from the restaurant so we came here to have dinner 3 times. We were never disappointed. The food is really good, the service awesome, and the price not expensive compared to the restaurants in the centre.

Short distance from Santa Maria Nouvelle Train Station, on the same stretch as Hotel Bocaccio. Nice cozy little restaurant that serves good hot food. Not as touristy as i thought it might be. Service staff was very good & attentive. Ordered the ravioli & The in-house specialty tiramisu was good yet not too sweet. Give the grilled veggies a miss,... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
