We ate here on two occasions during our stay in Florence and were well satisfied each time. We went early because the restaurant got quite busy later in the evening. As well as the food the service was good and the surroundings pleasant with a good atmosphere

My wife and I and our grown daughters went to Florence this past Christmas. We ate at this restaurant twice it was so good. The food is amazing and the staff very friendly and attentive. It's relatively small inside but when the weather's nice, the outdoor seating expands the capacity quite a bit. You get traditional Tuscan food. We recommend... More

Lovely meal in this restaurant. I was surprised to find such a good restaurant next to the Duomo. Non pretentious, home made food. Was really pleased with the find. Waitress was friendly and busy. We were served really promptly but took a while to get the bill and pay. Marrowbone risotto was very good. Felt like we were able to... More

We went here for lunch after hiking up the duomo (you must do this if you haven't! The view is beyond amazing). It's literally right behind the duomo. We ordered a glass or wine for my wife and a beer for me. Started with a plate of cured meats. Followed by the most amazing gnocchi with a garlic cheese sauce... More

We ordered Florentino steak for 2 and salads, food was good, but we had to wait for a long time, had feeling that waiter forgot about starters, because we got it after main dish was served.

We have chosen this place because of the location, small street with nice view to Duomo) few table on outside terrace, friendly atmosphere , pretty tasty food (we've tried fiorentine steak), but we've been spend almost an hour to make the order and to finally eat) ok, it's just Italy)

The food here was fresh & beautifully cooked & presented. Service excellent. The barista spent quite a while helping us select an older & brilliant red. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant, its food, service, wine & cost. Tucked away in a small street, it was unjustifiably under populated.

The place got my eye just when I looked at it from the Piazza Duomo; small, with a few tables crammed outside; with plants and a big umbrella; quaint and very welcoming. We had just walked up the 465 steps of the Torre and were surely tired; as we approached the restaurant and attempted to take a seat a pleasant... More

Went here on a recommendation and it was fantastic. In the area around the Duomo it is very hard to find places that are not touristy. Sasso is authentic and delicious. It is set back from the main street, and is the perfect place to grab lunch or dinner in area. I made sure to have dinner there several nights... More

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
