A bit hit and miss. Couple of good dishes and others which were not up to standard. Seems like the sort of place which is there for the locals but tolerates tourists if they walk in by mistake. The passive aggressive signs make it clear that tourists really are not wanted, which is fine. Some may find them amusing, others... More

We travel to Florence for two to three months a year - we love it here. One day, about three years ago, we were on a little back Street, hungry and tired when we came across Pongie's. It is very small, but so BIG on good quality food. And VERY reasonable on price. So guess what? We eat here every... More

Got what was recommended, tortellini with wild boar, and my friend got the mushroom pasta! Excellent food and service! Atmosphere was perfect!

father and daughter , what a pleasure to meet them, been served by them and if you are like myself and speak Italian you would have the pleasure to listen to the owner who will tell you everything he makes in his own restaurant. there is a board in the charming dining room , typical Italian décor. fantastic food great... I stop here every time I pass by Firenze. Friendly environment, authentic genuine tuscan food and fair prices. Stuffed wild bore is a must!

While studying abroad last spring, my roommate and I stumbled upon Pangie's while determinedly trying to find a non-touristy restaurant. Pangie's did not disappoint, and we were sad we hadn't found it sooner! Our meal and wine were delicious and the service was great, our waiter was very patient with our broken Italian. We were also the only non-Italians in... More

A gem that a friend advised and we fell in love with the place and its owners who are charming people. It is a place where local people come, you can tell there are "usuals". The food is great, homemade, authentic. We were served with attention and care . The place is small and cosy. The decoration is rich and... More

My wife and I stumbled upon that place one evening and we were extremely disappointed. Food is warmed up in the microwave and the mushrooms (must have been canned) of my fettuccine tasted overcooked and slimy, eventually making me gag. Despite friendly and good service this was possibly the worst meal i ever paid for.

A cool autumn day in Florence, and my thoughts turned to something warm and comforting for lunch. The menu outside Pangie's Bistrot was full of such things, so in I went for a lunch of Cinghale in Umido (wild boar stew), potatoes and vegetables, and a big glass of Chianti Classico. Perfect! Cozy interior, friendly people, lots of locals (always... More

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
