Great place to cool down after a few days checking out the museums and palazzos of Florence in the sweltering heat. The Italians are rather strict about no eating by the pool, but the water is clean and the deck chairs (€4) comfy. We walked from Santa Croce ... took 40 mins by the river. No problems!

I agree with everything Bellereview wrote regarding just the swimming pool. I just want to add that the lifeguards were incredibly polite and friendly. When my kids were jumping from the edge into the pool, every kid there were doing the same, they came over to say that it's OK to jump in but to be careful they don't run... More

This review is purely for the open air pool. We visited during mid July so it was swelteringly hot in Florence and after a couple of days sightseeing and walking miles around the city we decided to have a day at the pool. The pool is situated in the middle of the stunning Cascine park with a beautiful old Italian... More

Le Pavoniere Magnificenza was such a lovely place to cool down and relax during this VERY hot sommer ;-) We also attended a pool party here with food, drinks and live music ... It's not a place filled with other tourist, so you'll have a good chance meeting locals friends, and so we did :-)

We decided to go to the swimming pool Le Pavoniere to spend a relaxing day but unfortunately it was a big disappointment. The cost of the entrance per person with a sunbed is 12 euros, that's the right price if you receive a nice service but you don't. As welcome, straight when we arrived at the entrance of the pool,... Hi, this in the profile of the restaurant/lounge bar, the swimming pool is handle by another association and we don't define the rules about the pool. But italian regulation prohibits consumption of food and beverages on the poolside for hygiene reasons, the same reason that you can not wear shoes. The personel should explain you at the entrance and probably... More

We spent a good few hours here one day last week as we needed a break from the Florence heat. We arrived at 10:30am and there was a queue but still plenty of space around the pool for our loungers to be placed. We paid 8EUR to get in and 4EUR for a sun lounger which was put exactly where... More

Whilst both the website for Le Pavoniere and the website for "things to do around Florence" said the pool was open late Wednesday through till Sunday, when our group arrived at 9 for a swim, we were turned away, though the bar appeared open. We were told that it's only open Wednesday and Sunday, yet when I pointed out that... More

We wanted a day by the pool in the sun having suffered bad weather at our poolside hotel further south. Our hotel was near the park so we walked up and paid €9 each entry and €2 each for sunbeds. The place is great and was not too busy. The pool is really deep and one end so it was... More

We stumbled upon this place during a recent evening walk through the Cascine Park and we could not have been more impressed. We highly recommend stopping by to have drinks and appetizers or dinner. Our bartender/server was super friendly and took good care of us. The setting is magical and beautifully designed and decorated. The wine was excellent and our... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
