Went on the recommendation of an Italian cousin. Food was very good, very generous, and surprisingly inexpensive. What else is there to say?

The restaurant is small with most tables downstairs. The location is ideal. Leave your car in the parking lot near the Roman ruins. Walk across the street to find a ramp to enter the city of Gubbio. Turn left, immediately right and you are there, it's on thr right corner. Three of us shared a piattone-- a giant plate of... More

The Osteria is located in a relatively quite part of town and is handy for lunch. It serves typical Umbrian dishes such as Piadina and is not a pasta & pizza type of restaurant. We found the service good and the luch tasty.

When we asked for a table the manager instructed the waitress to tell us that this is not a "pizza and pasta" restaurant. Being a family wirh three kids he assumed that we were looking for the standard pizzaria. When we inquired with the waitress for the possibility for gluten free meals the manager audibly sighed and threw his hands... More

we share antipasto, some is normal, some is buono. then we had salsicia, buonissimo! they have lot of cakes, unfortunately we have no room for it any more. we were out door, easy atmosphere, food comes slow as it's written on their menu, but worth waiting.

This was our first night in Gubbio, so we tried one of the recommended restaurants. Since that evening we've tasted better, fresher, warmer crescia, but all else was good, solid local fare that would please us to try again. Good Piattone del Re, a big antipasto plate with a really tasty local bean/guanciale soup as a centerpiece, good vegetables, tasty... More

Stopped here twice for supper (after 8:00pm) during a recent visit. First visit, I had wild boar "in fricco" (braised in a tomato sauce), and some of their huge slabs o' beef, cooked on a grill, then brought to the table on a still-hot grill to finish cooking by the slice if you like. There was lots made-on-site crescia (flatbread)... More

This restaurant is on the corner of the Via Cavour and has a terrace on a lovely quiet square, not far from the entrance to the passage way which leads to the large parking place on the edge of the city. We thought it was a nice place for lunch. They especially serve crescia's (tasty flat crispy Umbrian bread) with... More

Arrive by 12.30 or so for lunch as the Osteria gets busy. There are outside tables but on the day we went it had rained and we ate downstairs in the vaulted cellar. The piattone del re is the best choice as it is a sharing plate of tasty Umbrian food including local salami, cheeses, bean and beef stew, omelette... More
