I had the luck to visit this place with my wife. It was her to bring me there. Le Barbare is closed now, Marta Tombolan, the owner got her pension after many years of service. Le Barbare had an incredible history, you need to read about it in google but I want to describe my experience. I loved this place.... More

Simple good hot chocolate but not special! From 5Fr You can drink a pretty good drink. However i think the magnitude of quality of this drink is overated. Is good but not 5 stars.

This place is known for its thick, rich, hot chocolate. The locals like to go there from time to times to have one of those chocolates. It's not like a chocolate you could drink, you will most likely "eat/drink" it with a spoon, which is awesome. It's really good if you love chocolate, if you don't it might be a... More

Love visiting Lausanne if for no reason other than the hot chocolate. Got smart this time and bought some bags to take home and make on our own. Always worth a visit!

Nice quiet place to spend the rainy time. The cakes (all three of them) were good and the hot chocolate was excellent.

I go to Le Barbare usually on Saturday afternoons, with friends or just by myself to read and enjoy the coffee/hot chocolate. The hot chocolate is indeed very different from what you get elsewhere, it's like a delicious pudding that feels good! I took my very picky mother there, and she loved it! She finished hers and had half of... More

The thick, rich hot chocolate was phenomenal. Never had any hot chocolate like this before. You gotta try it. The heated fromage, a magnificent cheese plate, topped off a wonderful small meal on the patio. They serve a much larger variety of food; however, we only wanted a snack. Very friendly staff.

They have hot chocolate that is homemade. You can feel the gentle cocoa flavor aftertaste in your month and while it is quite sweet, the amount of sugar is not exaggerated, as it happens with the ones that are prepared with the average instant powder.

The "chocolat liègois" is really one of the best: a hot chocolate with a ball of ice cream! This is the best chocolate you can get. Haven't been able to get any better one in all of Europe.
