My family and I were looking for a restaurant with traditional Swiss food. We went here because of reviews we read. Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to try to the fondue, but did have tripe soup, beef tongue, and pig feet, which were all delicious. The service is a little slower than what you would be used to in... More

I visited the cafe romand last week with my co-workers as an official dinner in Lausanne. The atmosphere and interior was nice and made me feel it is swiss, but food was not good. We ate traditional veals and swiss-fondue. Both were not good. Especially, veal meat was so-called 'tourist food'. I've heard that no local people recommend this restaurant,... More

Had a meal out during a business trip, this was put on by Classens. Thanks Guys. This is a great place to experience traditional meals. Apart from slow service, I really enjoyed myself with friends and great hosts. The food was something to behold !, The cheese, oooh my waistline ! Of course, cheese figures strongly on the menu and... More

The service was excellent and the food was very good. Reminded me of Lausanne in the 70's. Felt nice to be in a decor that is typically Swiss and not the cold modern standard decoration that has over taken the world. Not complicated to know what to order, since the food is very traditional. Enjoyed my meal! A delicious goat... More

This place was recommended as THE place for Swiss regional specialities. Indeed, the menu predominantly featured fondue, baked cheese, dried meats, sausages and rösti in abundance. And the place was really full and very noisy, all of which suggested that their reputation was well-deserved. This was a great choice for an international group on a business trip to Switzerland. In... More

Stumbled upon this place by sheer chance. It was a Saturday evening and were lucky to get a table. Whilst we had our meal customers leaving were immediately replaced by others queuing up. It seems to be a very popular place with a traditional atmosphere. We had mussels and chips. The mussels were good, the portion of chips was a... More

One of the oldest restaurant of Lausanne. They re-decorated the inside and made new menu. But they succeed in keeping the old charm. Food is good, mostly cheese and brasserie food. Service is somehow a bit rude and can be slow if it is just a bit crowded but definitively a place to go to taste some specialities.

Went for lunch with a friend. Service was not all that attentive (a little aloof) and the food wasn't all that special.

This cafe was recommended to us by a local for a good menu of local delights. It is great for tasting local dishes and worth a visit. We tried the local sausage served with onion sauce, rosti and vegetables. It was delightful. The service was very good , despite the waiters lack of English and our lack of Swiss words... More

This IS THE restaurant in Lausanne where you can treat yourself to most dishes that you wish to fast while visiting Lausanne. It is a staple with its traditional and warm atmosphere, good service and very tasty menus. Ideally located off of Place St Francois, the Cafe Romand is a place where the Lausannois' and tourist share a glass of... More
