The moussaka which we were told was one of the specials of the day was not too special. Maybe it was yesterday. Overcooked and swimming in oil. I have had better from Sainsbury. As a ready meal! My partner had the venison burger, but reported that it tasted no different from a beef burger. It was served in a cold... More

Very busy but very freindly restaurant. Popular with locals and visitors with a very large menu. Good choice of beers, well managed. The lamb shank was a dream and melted on the plate. A little remote, you'll need a car or get a taxi if you are not staying in the bunkhouse.

Great staff, massive menu, visited with family 6 of us and 2 dogs. The staff were sooooo attentive, but no so bothering as to annoy us. Brilliant Sunday lunch, extra gravy was not a problem. I will definitely visit this fantastic little pub for dinner again

We came here on a bank holiday Sunday on the off chance that they might have a table. Despite being really busy the manager was able to find us a place, but I would advise you book ahead to avoid disappointment. You know when a place is this busy, there is a good reason for it, and we were not... More

Booked a table and brought three other people and three dogs for lunch, yesterday. Food, menu, quality of food and service was spot on, all meals were different and all were well received by the table, including the dogs. Great service and staff too

We ate here twice on our holiday and cannot fault it. Most of our party were vegetarian and we were offered a choice of 6 different vegetarian home made main courses. The spinach and walnut lasagne , the stilton and roasted vegetable tart and the mushroom risotto were all excellent . Every member of staff was cheerful and efficient and... More

Had a recent family celebration here (party of 12) and as it was on a bank holiday as can be imagined it was packed. We had booked the cellar but due to another group could not go straight in (we were early no fault of pub) but staff soon found somewhere to sit until it was free. Food was very... More

It is some 3 years since I last reviewed The Royal Oak and when my wife and I called in for lunch earlier this week I am pleased to say that the same friendly welcome and excellent food is still offered. My wife enjoyed the Millionaires Fish Pie and I loved the Pork and Chicken Pie. The place can get... More

After trying to book 3 previous campsites for a group of 10 motorcycles, The Royal Oak welcomed us with open arms. The pub itself, is in an excellent location, serves excellent food, real ales and has friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast is also available from 8.30am most days. There are also bunk barns if you don't want to camp. The... More
