Wonderful staff, incredible food, amazing wines, beautiful venue and surroundings. Will add to one of my favorites!
Since the first contact with the restaurant over email and phone I had a good feeling about this. I booked a table outside for my boyfriend's birthday. Due to Covid they have an outside terrace and they basically moved all the furniture from inside to the terrace with a very strong and sturdy tent. It was raining all afternoon and we stayed dry and felt warm with the heaters and candles.
We chose a five course lunch menu with wine tasting menu and it was absolutely amazing! Beautiful food and very tasteful, a next level food experience, a pleasure I highly recommend to anyone!
The service was amazing, the ladies and gentlemen looked very nice, the surrounding area is beautiful, it feels like you're on a mini vacation.
Will definitely return and recommend to everyone!

We visited for a dinner with two and went for the 5 course option, including wine pairing. Unfortunately the separate aperitif area was closed due to covid. So we went straight to the table. The restaurant is very well decorated. Whole evening went smooth with regard to the service offered, from amuse to dessert and the wine were delivered in a professional and friendly manner.
Two of the courses we had were rather salty, that's why 4 out of 5 score.
Still all in all a nice experience

Had a wonderful evening! Very nice reception in the workshop with champagne and the first great appetizer. Then to the restaurant for a delicious continuation of the evening. All appetizers were real flavor bombs. The starters and main courses were superb. For us, the turbot, onion and black angus steak stood out. I don't like desserts myself, but I enjoyed the pre-dessert. The dessert was very tasty, but also a lot. All in all a delicious meal! Here we see another review about the costs for the truffle. These costs are neatly stated on the cards on the table and these cards are easy to read.
The service was great! Cheerful people who clearly enjoy their work. It was noticeable that there was a relatively young team working (chefs and service), really great to see that they are already achieving such a level together!

While eating we were asked if we wanted truffle on our dish during one of the dishes. We were 6 people and 4 of us took truffle and got an extra 120 euros on the bill since the little truffle cost 30 euros per person. It would have been nice if it had been mentioned that extra costs would be charged here. Afterwards it was written on a note, but that note was impossible to read, as it is very dark in the shop. We'll just call it the truffle truck.

The restaurant was full. The tables are close together. So that you can literally enjoy the conversation from the adjacent tables. Very unfortunate, we expected much more. Customers who were watching the grand prix on their mobile phone (with the sound on). Groups at two tables that had quite a presence. In my opinion, this is not appropriate for what the house James wants to make it appear to be.
We had a six course menu with matching wine pairing. The courses were served quickly and were outside after 2.5 hours. Dishes were not balanced and the appropriate wine was not always the right choice. Due to the speed of serving, the wine from a previous dish was not finished and the next glass was already filled, sometimes up to 4 glasses on a small table. The staff was too busy with the number of guests, some explanation was missing, the bread was put down without explanation as to what type of bread and butter. When asking for the bill it was literally thrown on the table. We had a different expectation than what we experienced. Too bad, the quality of food and service could and should be improved.

Beautiful place and delicious food! Highly recommended. The staff is very knowledgeable about the dishes that are served and know exactly which wine is delicious with it.
Unfortunately, they do not offer a wine pairing with lunch. (unless we didn't see that on the map) but they didn't indicate it either.

The food was satisfactory, not every course was successful, but overall satisfactory. The speed at which the courses were served was very hurried. In just 1:45 hours, 6 courses were served with matching wines. This despite the request to take more time for this.
Overall a disappointing experience, unfortunately this was not compensated by the service, which came across as somewhat perfunctory.

The ideal day, beautiful weather, not too hot and then sitting on the terrace under the parasol with a view over the lawns lined with trees. Completely away from the hustle and bustle, 'zen' within 10 seconds. Staff very friendly, spoiled with the necessary appetizers and then lunch. Everything beautifully arranged, beautiful on the plates, art on the plate but more importantly: full of flavor, every bite a feast for the taste buds. Every plate is worth taking a photo of (but others can do that, my phone stays in my bag). Ideal environment for a good conversation, to read a book between courses, but above all to enjoy the surroundings. Back again soon!

It was my 2nd time at Cottage James and for my partner the 1st time.
But we'll definitely be back together.
The food was again very tasty and in combination with the half wine glasses arrangement just right for the dishes.
The pace might have been a bit slower at times.

This is a highly recommended Michelin place in the Veluwe. It has three set menus and a huge wine menu. It's difficult to work out how to choose the wine because the menus are a surprise. But really, it doesn't matter much because it's all pretty delicious. The food is seasonal and excellent!

Very nice and atmospheric restaurant. We enjoyed the 6 course menu with matching wines. The food was nicely served and tasted fantastic. However, I don't think a glass of hot water with a slice of lemon and a piece of ginger is tea. There were still many treats with coffee.

I put average on my review because of the decor and the friendliness of the staff; however, the culinary experience was not for us a big success.
We were brought to a nice and cosy small part of the restaurant, near the fire place where we could have first an aperitif...I decided to choose a simple kir (2cl crème de cassis and 9cl dry white wine preferably burgundy wine..). In my opinion, the bartender just inverted the dosis, which made the beverage undrinkable..I returned the first attempt explaining how to make it, but the second one was unfortunately almost as bad. We could order during the aperitif, and I decided to choose for the wine a CHÂTEAU DES GRAVIERS, MARGAUX 2018. When we arrived at our table, the sommelier brought us a CHÂTEAU GRAND VILLAGE A BORDEAUX 2012 which is a basic bordeaux...the reason according to the sommelier for that was that the Margaux would be too young to be drinken ! I insisted on getting the Margaux, and only before the main course were we told that this Margaux was not available anymore...we ate therefore our first course without wine.
The food itself was good but the portions extra small, my first course ( sweet bread 23€) was microscopic, the beef was also good but again small portion and no side dish with it..
Last but not least, the final bill was wrong, there was an extra 356€ on it..this was corrected without problem.

Again we could enjoy the garden of Huisje James and the cosy atmosphere of being at the outer boundary of the Veluwe nature area. Next to the good service and attentiveness of the staff, the food was perfect.
They experiment with local and own grown products and they have a lot of success in this. All five courses of the menu (that changes every second month according to the staff) changing are tasty and come with a good choice of wine. All in balance so we had an excellent evening out.

My favorite place of all times. Outstanding staff, awesome food, perfect wine pairing for every dish, with no downsides at all. I strongly recommend Huisje James to anybody who values great dinning experience.

This restaurant has a lovely ambience - 'oldey worldy'. It feels as if you are eating with the family in their cosy farmhouse - log fires, beamed ceilings, family portraits...... Great! The welcome glass of prosecco with home-made crisps and Parma ham is a lovely touch. It's a short walk then over to the main restaurant. We had the surprise 4-course menu. It was delicious, although I have to admit that I've had nicer taster menus in other restaurants. Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would return.
