The highest rated places were fully booked so I ended up filtering places where you can book online. This was not a disappointment, on the contrary. Although being very close to the busy Rembrantplein they run a cosy and truthfull place with dutch specialites on the menu. Nice and caring people working with customers.

Fantastic small cozy restaurant. Three of us visited and had the most wonderful meal. I have gluten and dairy allergies and they helped with suggestions and made me a special meal. Fabulous service everybody in our group wants to go back. Highly recommend this restaurant.

An excellent spot for a traditional dinner, especialy if you have plans to attend the nearby National Opera and Ballet for an event. The food was very tastefull, an interestin choice of typical dutch as well as more international flavors and a very good and amicable service.

We visited Amsterdam at the end of October for 4 nights and ate here on the first night and returned on the last night. We received such a warm welcome and the menu was varied and interesting, with some typical Dutch dishes.

I am a regular visitor of Amsterdam for professional reasons. If I have the opportunity I always try to have dinner here. I like the setting, kind of French style bistro, and appreciate the friendly service, good food and moderate prices. Very nice (organic) house wine – always a good sign.

Noticed this restaurant on my first day in the city, it was close to the hotel, so decided to go there on my first night. It did not dissapoint. For starters I had a Smoked Trout salad with beetroot, apple, lettuce with a horseradish dressing. It was fresh and delicous. For mains I had a traditional Dutch fish stew which... More

We stopped purely by chance at this excellent little restaurant. It was reassuringly popular and the staff very helpful and friendly. The food was delicious. I had watermelon sorbet with a hint of chili - amazing. My friend's cappuccino cheesecake was similarly fabulous.

Looking for somewhere on or near Rembrandtplein and noticed the good reviews on TA. With time to spare and check the other restaurants we liked the menu so went there. For our mains we had Saltimbocca and a Surinamese curry - both were excellent. We enjoyed our meal so much that we went again on Friday night when it definitely... More

Description
Szmulewicz is since 1990 a small, informal, cosy restaurant (with terrace) in the centre of Amsterdam, near Rembrandtplein. The name suggests a Polish kitchen, but the chefs have different nationalities, and are inspired by the international (Mediterranean) kitchen. Dutch dishes are also being served. We all speak English, and some of us speak French and German as well. Since the place is frequently visited by locals, please make a reservation!
