Our experience in this restaurant was the perfect conclusion for our holiday in Amsterdam. Cosy and typical atmosphere, really nice and fast service. Food was very good, a mix of many tastes, very well cooked.

Probably the highlight of of our eating out in Amsterdam. Not an inexpensive destination but it justifies the cost. The menus includes a range of Dutch specialities (I had suckling pig and my wife had vegetarian hash with 'shaggy scalycap mushrooms') and the quality of preparation, service and quality was excellent. It's a bit off the beaten track but once... More

Friendly service and charming decor. A great "neighborhood" restaurant. Excellent food! A little hard to find...but an easy walk from a well situated hotel.

We had dinner here and it was very very good. We had the four course prixe fixe dinner and for 3 of us and a bottle of wing it was about 210 euros. I had the pork for the entree and it was the best pork dinner I've ever had (and this is of all the places I've eaten all... More

Great little restaurant for authentic Dutch cuisine. We opted for the tasting menu and really enjoyed it. Great service and ambiance. It also had a nice little bar for before or after dinner drinks.

We had a disappointing meal at another Dutch restaurant so thought we would try Greetje at the recommendation of a friend. It was excellent! The staff are friendly and warm, the setting is very nice in an Old Canal House with old prints of the surrounding landmarks on the walls, and since it is a bit out of the center... More

The main dish cod is so plain even with the sauce. The peach desert tastes like one from a supermarket. The waiter is quite defensive and blames me for having a wrong expectation. I spent 2.5 hours here and that's why you have to reserve. The dinner costs 70 for one. Besides, this is a place full of tourists. No... More

If there is a restaurant that I will always go back- and assured to have a blast, it’s Restaurant Greetje! Their spring menu is heaven! As always, the “Big Beginning” is a must! I’m a big soup lover myself (Beef Bone Broth is the best!) but I cannot resist not to have a taste of their other starters! The ‘Big... More

I've been here three times in the past 2 years and each visit is unique and enjoyable! Of course the food is top notch. I tried different items every visit and loved every one of them. At the end of every meal, I always have their dessert sampler, because it's hard to choose which one of them to order. :)... More

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighbourhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
