It is the best way to start your day in Amsterdam- sit on the Dam square sip coffee and eat croissant. the location is awsome. looks like the waiters are a bit too lazy and they charge you with every order and won't let you wait for the bill - pretty annoying.

We headed here for a drink due to its very ideal location but it was very expensive and charges you to use the WC. Call me old fashioned night why are you charging customers who pay twice as much for a drink to use the bathroom?

Situated on Dam Square, so you pay premium prices, but well worth it. The food is divine and presented beautifully. Starting with mushroom soup that was served at the table, and carpaccio, which was a first for me. Both were delicious. Main courses were tagliatelli and teriyaki beef stir fry. The beef was succulant, and both dishes very tasty. Service... More

We don't like to eat breakfast in the hotels so we walked to Dam square and found Majestic. Very clean, nice food but we spent 33 euros on 4 coffees and 4 orange juices. We understood we were probably in the most expensive place to eat, but even so we felt that this was a lot. Th e English Breakfast... More

I will be brief.... boring menu, ridiculously overpriced, sloth like inattentive staff and moody management. Dam square is probably the most overrated place to hang out in this wonderful city. Avoid this place at all costs, it really is not worth the effort and the money. There are so many better places to eat and drink in Amsterdam and for... More

As an American, I can say be aware that the beverage sizes are not nearly what you are used to. That's anywhere not America but my friend ordered a beer and I ordered a large soda and I definitely laughed at how much bigger his beer was. Either way, the food was delicious and we didn't even have to wait... More

A hidden jewel in the heart of Dam Square. Warmly greeted as we enterred and as it was an early dinner, quickly shown to our table. Wide selection of food and expertly cooked. Friendly service throughout the meal.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
