Tempura offers a great variety of choices for food including sushi, sashimi, tempura and grilled stuff. I am surprised to find out that they even have grilled chicken skin. The portion is also quite generous. The staff here are super friendly and helpful.

Although Tempura might make you think that their tempura is their best dish, it isn't. It is okay. Please order their sashimi and sushi and judge them on these courses. It is fresh and tasty.

This was our first experience of an authentic Japanese restaurant. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The food was tasty and varied (I am pretty sure that diners can select gluten free options) and included miso soup, sushi and barbeque skewers. Service was impeccable and very cheerful.

We found this restaurant close to our hotel. It's mostly full of locals which is usually a good sign! The food was amazing! Lots of options for the indecisive diner like me! the food came out quickly and for the two of of us with 4 dishes and drinks it was only 38 Euros.

We live in the neighbourhood and while at another restaurant nearby we saw Tempura and checked out the menu and the staff and were excited to try it out. The menu looked good, reasonably priced and the best part, the hostess and chef looked japanese which would mean authentic!! One friday night we ventured out to enjoy a nice evening... More

Not what I would expect from a japanese restaurant but came out of this establishment feeling very disappointed. As we tried each dish we ordered, it was very clear that our experience will not get better but will get worst. I figured that tempura sauce is universal that you can even get it at a local supermarket but i was... More

We ordered miso and edamame both of which were good. The salmon big roll tempura was great. Large chunks of salmon which was fresh in a sushi roll which was fried (very well). The vegetable tempura was great, as was the gyoza. The duck skewers were good but a bit chewy. The Japanese friend rice was a very small portion... More

As with most sushi restaurants this one concentrated on eight types along with some tempura and rolls. No uni or abalone or that type of fish. The fish was very fresh and tasty with wide veins of fat in the salmon and the tuna was as good as I have had in a while. Prices are reasonable. Only open for... More

I have been many times at Tempura, and the quality and taste of the food is always excellent. In the weekends it is always full so ensure you make a reservation. The menu offers a lot of variety. You can choose between different set menus or make a selection yourself from the sushi, sashimi, salads, skewers etc. We always have... More

Did not check beforehand so this was chosen by group rather than me. I was surprised about how good the quality and in particular the freshness of the food and very good service!

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighbourhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
