Great place to stop at after touring the Van Gogh Museum or Rijks Museum which are both very close. Has an excellent selection of food consisting of breakfast available until 5:00 PM (eggs, waffles, pancakes), sandwiches, soups, salads, pastas and more. Ordered the chicken sandwich, club sandwich and eggs Benedict which were all very delicious. We even had to order... More

I'm giving this place a 5/5 because the food was phenomenal. I'm not sure if it was because we had hours without eating and spent 30min trying to find a place to eat that we could all agree on. My husband had the fish and chips and found that the fish was very flavorful and crispy. I had the chicken... More

My friends and I were cycling through Amsterdam and suddenly lunch time passed without even notice! It was 4 pm and we were starving ! At the corner of one of the museumplein streets Pompa restaurant was waiting for us. A simple and genuine restaurant with no decorations or bright signs took our interest. It was 4 pm and they... This was the perfect spot for my children (ages 9-14) and I to stop for a bite before heading into the museums. It was a cozy, bustling, lively atmosphere with very pleasant staff and good food. The kids loved it and so did I. There was something for everyone on the menu.

Had a great meal here after visiting the Van Gogh museum. It's just a short walk away and there didn't seem to be a ton of other restaurants around. We arrived 40 minutes before they started serving their regular menu, so left and came back. The service was very nice and the place had a good atmosphere. The menu has... More

After a visit to the Van Gogh museum we found this lovely restaurant nearby. We had tasty Carbonara and Vongle pasta. Service was good and the restaurant inviting. I would have given it a 3.5 if I had had that option. It just didnt make the very good category but I would go again given the opportunity.

Had dinner here tonight and looking forward to returning tomorrow night ~ yes it's that good...actually, our dinner was FANTASTIC! Husband had a very tender and juicy steak( I had a taste) served with brocolli, mushrooms and french fries with mayonaisse. I had tomato soup for a starter which was EXTRAORDINARY ~ I could eat that every day as it... More

Wished had found this quaint and local restaurant sooner, with it's varied selection of local favourites, pasta and other varied choices. Service was quick, attentive & very friendly:) Found this place by chance and it became my favourite place of eatery!

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
