Based on previous reviews we chose this restaurant due to its location and positive reviews. Although we reserved a table there would have been no need as only one other couple in when we arrived. This might have been a bad sign but generally the food was good and the staff friendly and attentive. Not sure what area the cuisine... More

Good environment, quiet and nice music. Food very well done. In our opinion too much spices in our dishes (cordero and faisan) A bit expensive but nice restaurant at red district area. The Waiter very nice guy and cooker knows what Spanish cuisine is about.

The positive: Good location on the canal . Nice place to have a drink and people watch. That's where it ends I'm afraid. The negative: Attempt at tapas was a joke. Tortilla was tasteless and was served in 4 very small coin sized pieces. Chicken dish was boiled and tasteless. Chorizo was cheap and nasty. Expensive prices made it feel... More

I was lucky to be a bit lost and stumbled upon this cute place on the canal , perfect for a spot to stop and have a drink to sit and enjoy the view with the boats coming by! It's hard to find a spot that is right on the canal.. This is it! Perfect , picturesque location! There was... More

The food was good it has a Spanish style. I recommend the tapas like ham, olives, cheese, bread... The music is good and you can sit inside or outside.

We were there as friends and went to this restaurant because the location is beautiful, they offered spanish Tapas and it´s expensive so we expected very good Tapas. Unfortunately the Tapas were far from good. Prawns were okay, their interpretation of "spanish potatoes" (a dish known as "Patatas Bravas" in Spanish that consists of small salt potatoes and red spicy... More

So much choice in Amsterdam but if you fancy something Spanish this is pretty good. We visited some years ago and the fact that it is still here and little changed is a good sign. 55euro per head for 2/3 courses and a good bottle of Verdejo.

A small delightful restaurant on the bank of one of the canals. Serving succulent Mediterranean food. The waitress was very attentive and spoke excellent English. The food was of a high standard accompanied by an excellent choice of wines. The restaurant was clean with a pleasant atmosphere.

We liked this little restaurant because of the music! It had a good feel about it. The Tapas was just about acceptable...they could be working more on their tastes....but it was well worth the visit for the general ambiance of the place

Description
We are a small exclusive restaurant with a southern European oriented kitchen. Our menu offers a select choice of traditional Spanish dishes and creations inspired by the Mediterranean cuisine. Our chefs are dedicated to prepare for our guests the best dishes with the finest ingredients. The restaurant is decorated in the southern Spanish style with original tiles and a long marble bar where you can enjoy our extensive wine list, have a meal or if you have not booked, have a drink while waiting for a table. For a snack and a drink you can also sit on the terace. In the summer you can enjoy watching the boats taking turns to sail through the narrow gate towards the open water or to the canals of the oldest and most beautiful part of Amsterdam.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
