Simply can't come to Amsterdam and not have at least one dinner in rakang This time the duck was out of this world, the fried rice was epic... the soup as heavenly as I remembered it.

On our first evening in Amsterdam went here in the recommendation of our concierge and she couldn't have chosen better. Very busy but swift service, great starters including vegetable tempura and seafood dumplings. Mains of various chicken curries and a fantastic steamed sea bass. Lovely atmosphere and really friendly staff.

Another triumph for eating in the centrum around the canals. Strolling through the narrow streets and chancing on a restaurant has been truly excellent here every time. Rakang was bustling all evening. The staff were excellent and the restaurant full from 7.00. We shared "5 buddies" to start followed by a steamed bream dish and a salmon dish. As it... More

We stumbled upon this restaurant walking around the Jordaan area and we are so glad we did. Small inside so I would book, we arrived for dinner and the service was great. We ordered starters and mains which were both delicious, I would say it's better than any Thai food I have had in the UK.

As lovers of Thai food and Thailand, we really enjoyed our meal here. Lots of spice! And the staff was super friendly and sweet with our infant daughter, including warming up her dinner for us.

Walking along in Jordaan, enjoying everything this amazing part of town offers... We walked by Rakang and noticed it full of people. By luck, there was a table for two open. And what a great thing that was. The Tom Ka soup with shrimp was to for for, and we also split the duck panang Curry. Both were simply delicious,... More

We ate here last night and it was probably the best thai food we've had outside Thailand. The service was also excellent. I would definitely come back here if back in Amsterdam.

Wonderful wait-staff. Delicious food. THE BEST DUCK we've ever had in an Asian restaurant. Looking forward to returning soon.

A nice low/mid priced Thai restaurant in a hot location. You should definitely give it a try. Good value for the money.

Can't fault the quality and authenticity of the Thai food, service was very friendly and the prices are OK. The only downside is that the restaurant is quite small and when it gets busy it's a little too cosy and you can hear other customer conversations. Other than that - highly recommend!!!

Staying in Jordaan

Neighbourhood Profile
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
