Part of a trip week away. Small restaurant in an old house on the canal away from the city centre but close to the railway station. As ever in a Michelin starred restaurant we had the tasting menu. Each course was delightful, extracting the best...from the ingredients. Service was friendly and quite informal. Would recommend to anyone visiting Amsterdam and wanting a Michelin starred experience.More

We had an exceptional meal at Vermeer, one course was even served by the man himself, Chris Naylor. The restaurant is small and only accommodates a few people. Staff are excellent. The meal we chose was 4 courses and we swopped out the dessert for...the cheese board. We had oysters with kohlrabi and beetroot, Red mullet as second course, lamb as main and then the cheese. We chose pinot noir wine from Alsace. It was exceptional and delicious and the 4 courses are ample. Bread is served throughout along with an amuse bouche . A very fine Michelin star experience.More

I can highly recommend this restaurant. The food is beautifully presented, each course a series of delicious surprises and unusual combinations. The emphasis is on local and seasonal foods. The service is attentive and unstuffy. We can’t wait to return

An absolutely amazing dinner! The food was delicious, with gorgeous plating, and interesting flavours (the clam was a bit underwhelming, but otherwise everything was perfect). The wine was also great and with such a huge selection of wines, its impossible that you wouldn't find a...wine that you would enjoy. The service was also top-notch. We were welcomed by Thomas, who was very polite and already created a hospitable atmosphere right at the entrance. I would also like to especially mention Bjorn, who gave us excellent wine recommendations, he was very attentive, and extremely knowledgeable about the menu and wines. All around a great professional. Lastly, Shannon was also great, always smiling and a natural conversationist, she made the experience very pleasant. Overall, a great experience, if you want to have a nice evening with some great food and service, this is a must!More

We had the vegetarian menu and we have hardly ever had a menu as good as with Vermeer! The team is very relaxed and friendly, not uptight. I look forward to come back soon!

It was one we very much looked forward to. After more than a year in Lockdown we decided to treat ourselves to a 6 course dinner. after our first glass of wine it was clear to us. We had made the right choice. Imaginative, healthy...and original dishes were served. This was in no way ordinary hotel restaurant food, but a top level dinner. Only one flaw. We stayed in a room in the hotel and were asked to dine in our room for breakfast. No problem, but cause of a miscommunication in the kitchen the next morning we were waiting in vain for breakfast which did not come. Apologies were made and what remained was the memory of a memorable dinner . It was in no way a disappointment to return at Vermeer after 15 years . Chris Naylor is certainly one of the best chefs in the Netherlands.More

Disappointing experience ended. First 3 courses plus amuse were very tasty and nice. Until the main meat course serving venison with beet which i didn’t touch it at all becoz I don’t eat neither of them. Menu (ingredients mostly) was in Dutch, my google translate...wasn’t telling me venison is part of menu. I don’t eat neither beet nor venison. They did come to offer cauliflower as alternative but when things are ruined hard to recover. Secondly, I did mention I m allergic to certain ingredients when I made my reservation, but they didn’t take that serious, first amuse was already including the allergic ingredient. Thanks God we were able to catch the ingredients when the waitress introducing the dish, otherwise it could be bad. As a one star restaurant I expect to see the restaurant pays more attention to allergic ingredients. Overall experience with 1-star restaurant was not superb.More

Each dish at Vermeer was a real treat for the taste buds, with high-quality ingredients and good technical work. I found the plating of the smaller starters and desserts more interesting than the main courses. Thank you Chris Naylor & team, and Fallon Hoog and...special thanks to Shanon.More

We had the best time at Restaurant Vermeer. We booked the Culinary Staycation which included a five course menu + wine pairing. Every single employee we interacted with was super friendly and made the extra effort to make sure we had a great time. Especially...the sommelier impressed us. With little jokes and great story telling about the wines and how they harmonize with each dish amazed us. Also the chefs serving and announcing their dishes themselves here and there was lovely! Thank you very much. We will definitely come back when visiting Amsterdam.More

Had a wonderful evening at Vermeer. We had the pleasure of having some of our courses at the chef's table where we were welcomed by the executive chef Chris. Excellent wines were paired with the dishes and kudos to the service team, led by Bjorn...who really looked after us very well.More

Our experience was not the best. Excellent food and carrying dishes all at once. But when we asked for a menu they told us that they didn't have and they had no wine pairing with the meal in one restaurant Like this. We are still...and do not know if it was some kind of racism since we are Puerto Ricans. We are even with a couple that speaks the language and they themselves were thinking that there was something strange in the service to our table. To the point that we were not even two hours in the restaurant and left. We usually stay to keep ordering bottles of wine but this time it was an exception. It was not worth spending in the restaurant when we feel a contempt for ourselves. We have gone to other restaurants with stars too and the service has always been excellent but in this restaurant I do not return.More

They completely exceeded pur expectations - the food was absolutely delicious, beautifully plated, wines were a perfect match. The staff was exceptional, you can see that they can feel the audience and were matching their attitude towards the guest. We felt pampered but they also...knew when to give us space to enjoy each other's company. The service was so smooth and natural in keeping with guidelines that if your didn't know there is an epidemic, you would not notice it which was such an amazing feeling as you are tranaported into another world full of lovely environment, tasty food, rich wine and great people around you! I strongly recommend!!!More
