Went there for an early dinner! By the time we left at 7 there was a line! Service was great! Funky little place with delicious food and ample portions! Was around 40 euro for two appetizers and two main courses and two beers! We left feeling full and happy!

We were drawn in by the smells of the oriental area of Amsterdam! There are several large restaurants in the same street, but the others appeared empty. Bird had a queue for entry and, being English, I couldn't resist joining it. We were given complimentary tasters whilst waiting and only waited about 15 mins to be seated. We shared a... More

Today is our 1st day in Amsterdam and we ended up going there by chance. And God it was the right choice! We had to share a table with 2 girls from the Czech Republic - no prob, but the place IS tiny... Many a people who arrived later hat to wait outside until a place was available. Service was... More

Excellent, tasty food, with delicious starters and large portions. It was very busy so it might be best to book. On the Zeedijk, this is a central, accessible spot.

The staff is friendly but they are very busy. I felt rushed because they seem to want you to dine and move on. I totally understand, so if you want to eat and sit and talk for a while, this is not a good place to hangout. On the other hand, if you want some good authentic Thai food and... More

I went there for dinner with one friend but I came first and waited in a line for getting a table. A waitress guy asked me how many person, and I said 2 but my friend is still walking. He asked how long is gonna take for my friend to come, and I said she is still walking and maybe... More

We came there to eat lunch from day's menu. It was full of people and the prices quite normal - 10 euros for main one from day's menu. My girlfriend ordered chicken some kind of massala - very average and quite fatty, big bites. Wouldn't recommend. I ordered beef with garlic and pepper sauce - very decent and tasty, soft... More

You cannot leave Amsterdam without eating here, if you do, you'll have missed out. It was a reccommendation from a waiter at another establishemnt who suggested this place, and boy were we glad that he did. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the food on offer here is brilliant. Tasty, fresh, great portion size and great service.

Really very solid food. Less sugar than Americanized Thai but it really held its own. We got the pad thai (good) the drunken noodles (excellent) and a noodle soup (excellent). The entry is a bit disorganized, if you want "take away" skip the line (ignore the angry glares from those waiting) and find the first waiter you can track down.... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
