The food here is very good but with no reservations you have to wait at the bar until a table becomes free. This was our second visit after eating here on our last visit to Amsterdam 3 or 4 years ago. We waited around 50...More

Fantastic meal - the service and the food were both wonderful. Would definitely recommend. Made our first night in Amsterdam just perfect.

Had to wait at the bar for a while, but such a great atmosphere that this was fine. The service was ace, friendly, with loads of helpful advice. Food was genuinely special. An excellent little bistro close to the centre of Amsterdam.

We were recommended by our hotel (Sebastians) to check this place out and we are very glad we did. The service we received was amazing and the food quality speaks for itself. The menu is rotating and the waiters will explain it all to you...More

Not a huge selection, maybe 3-4 choices of each course, but everything was good. No written menu, server recites everything. Good, elevated comfort food that won't break the bank.

We ate dinner here twice. (The food was so good, we couldn't wait to return.) There is no fixed menu. The friendly staff will tell you what's available each day. The entrees include salad and frites, so it's a hearty meal, and the desserts are...More

We went on a recommendation for where to eat Dutch food nearby the centre. The atmosphere is very cosy with only 29 seats they were turning people away as the restaurant soon filled up before long. Food is fairly simple and all family made on...More

I cannot rate this restaurant highly enough! We'd read reviews online about it which was fortunate, because you could easily walk past this and not even notice it. It's a small restaurant with a really warm, welcoming atmosphere, amazing food and super friendly staff. The...More

To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the

view some of the city’s most picturesque canals,
historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples
of traditional local architecture – not to mention
Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist

Van Kerkwijk, situated at the Nes 41 just behind Dam square, is a classic Amsterdam cafe and restaurant where you can eat and drink from early in the morning till late in the evening. Van Kerkwijk sisters have chosen a personal approach. That's why a menu doesn't exist and your options are presented at the table by your waiter.

Van Kerkwijk stands for quality food and drinks in an urban atmosphere. Characteristic, easy going, value for money. You feel at home between the regular customers who keep returning for the varied menu and the relax atmosphere.

Van Kerkwijk doesn't take reservations, walk in for a table or wait at the bar with a good beer or wine.
