Great little gem slightly off the beaten track. Busy with locals when I visited (a welcome relief from the swarms of RLD tourist nutters!) :-)

After taking a nap my friend and I decided that something close to our hotel, Grand Hotel Amrath, and local would be perfect. We had seen Captein & Co when we were exploring earlier in the day and decided it fit the bill. We weren't disappointed. Our server was helpful and pleasant. The food was lovely. We started with the... More

While staying nearby at the Grand Amrath we had dinner here one evening, it is a lovely spot with lots of locals in and out for a beer or dinner! A little off the beaten track! We had a salad and glass of wine as we were quite tired from our flight in the morning. A great little spot for... More

This a great local cafe, slightly away from the major tourist areas but still busy, popular for locals and tourists. Small/medium blackboard dinner menu but always changing, in the summer it is open for lunch but in the winter lunch is only served at weekends. Always lovely friendly young efficient staff, great outdoor patio interior could do with some tlc... More

This place is just round corner from Grand Hotel Amrath and we had dinner on 24/8/16. Waitress was lovely, busy. Menu board was small but interesting. We had salmon with salsa verdi which was delicious. Fairly large portions but reasonably priced. Homemade mayo and roasted veg. Definitely recommend. Very relaxing, local feel.

We were staying int the Amrath so this became our local little bar, very Dutch, reasonably priced and really nice friendly staff, we popped in every day for either a bite to eat or a nightcap.

The location is lovely and quite peaceful, the food is good and the service is attentive and quick. Highly reccommended for a quiet lunch, they also have board games. If the weather is nice it is a great place to eat or drink outside.

Found this cafe close to the hotel we were staying in and sat down for a glass of wine and a small plate plate of snacks. One drink turned to 3 as we didn't want to leave. Sitting outside on a summer evening without the hustle of the city was absolutely perfect. The staff were all friendly and everything is... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
