If only the service was better, then this could be a fantastic restaurant. The chef is clearly very talented, and ambitious. We were impressed by the food, which comes reasonably priced too. But the waitresses were a real pain. They seemed more interested in chatting on the phone or with friendly guests rather than properly look after everyone. One of... More

Dropped in last minute with 5 of us. We couldn't have been more delighted. The atmosphere is intimate and modern. The service is efficient and friendly. The food is one of the better values in Amsterdam. Two of our party got scallop appetizers and fries. It was just the perfect amount if you want a light dinner. Another of our... More

This restaurant is in a side road, not far from the touristy area of Amsterdam. The restaurant from the outside is absolutely beautiful and quaint. The inside is exactly the same. The service is good, but could be a bit friendlier. The menu is very nice with exotic and interesting combinations. The bread that is served is warm and delicious.... More

There are many, many places to eat in Amsterdam, some really bad where many tourists eat, and some where real friends go for creative menus and food presentation, and hopefully great service. Fortunately for me I was taken to de Luwte for my "last night in Amsterdam" dinner before heading back to Rancho Winder in GA. Even at my age,... More

My wife and I recently celebrated her birthday at de Luwte. All-in-all a great experience. Just the right mix of liveliness and calm, ennabling quiet conversation. Service was perfect (thanks Susan and bar4tender Gus), wine excellent at reasonable prices, and the food terrific (highly recommend the excellent piece of beef for 2).

I'm glad we stumbled upon this VERY fine restaurant after a long afternoon gazing at the gorgeous flowers in Keukenhof. We were walking back towards Jordaan and made it as far as de Luwte. I'm SO glad we didn't trek further. We arrived at about 19:45 and asked nicely about a table. We were told it wasn't likely but then... More

Words to describe de Luwte? Cozy, warm, inviting, delicious, unpretentious, relaxed. Dining here last night was like visiting with old friends who happen to be excellent chefs. The service was both attentive and unhurried. The food was excellent- those scallops! Excellent wine choices. It was our first dinner in Amsterdam and I'm already trying to figure out how to get... Restaurant De Luwte has been a well-known establishment located at the Leliegracht in Amsterdam for over 27 years. This winter, it has renewed the look.As soon as you walk in you feel the warmth. Warmth coming from the cosy fireplace, but also the natural colors and materials surrounding you. You find yourself amongst the locals and internationals. Enjoy a nice glass of red wine by the fireplace, a special diner with a view over the Leliegracht or taste different cocktails below our vertical garden. The name 'De Luwte' means 'out of the wind' or a 'sheltered place'. De Luwte is a calm, relaxing spot in the centre of Amsterdam where you can escape the bustle of the city into a cosy and relaxing place. We have an international menu with a nod to the Mediterrenaen kitchen. To everyone's wish our menu is an affordable, obtainable and interesting answer.
