Yesterday, April 8, 2020, our daughter and we had a virtual dinner organized. She lives in Amsterdam Oost and we on the Singel around the corner of the Ambassade Hotel. In these special social distancing times, the hotel brasserie posts in the neighborhood a dinner menu that can be delivered or collected. My daughter ordered Sushi in her world and I collected the following wonderful dinner at ridiculous low prices for us:
a rich rich onion soup to start by a goat, fig, walnut salad with a very well prepared port sauce
the main dish was duck confit with roseval potatoes, brunoise cut red beet, onion compote well spiced accompanied its a jus de veau as only can be tasted in France
The meal ended with a nicely composed tarte tatin
My daughter had long left the session when we started on our tarte tatin.
I will spare you the details of the wine that accompanied this meal since that came from my personal collection.
But I tell you if you ever are in Amsterdam after these crazy times, make time to experience this little advertised Ambassade Brasserie on the Herengracht.
In the meantime we are having such a dinner again soon

The room with extra large windows overlooking the canal is a treat in itself,
Having breakfast by the window is heavenly, the buffet a delight for the eyes and much regret that you can’t sample it all, but did sample lots of extraordinary delicious smoked salmon. The service is very gracious and efficient, you want to linger for longer than necessary.
The dinner provides a different ambiance, the menu very enticing and would get my full approval if I could sit by the window and stare at the canal and reminisce on the amazing days spent in Amsterdam.

Amazing chefs tasting menu!
I booked this restaurant for my boyfriend’s birthday and we had such a lovely evening.
Our waiter told us about the 5 course tasting menu which sounded delicious and they offered a vegetarian version for myself. Every course was beautiful and the service was fantastic. Would definitely recommend for a romantic evening in Amsterdam!

Nice location and stylishly decorated restaurant however food rather average and service very slow. It took nearly half an hour for us to give our order, the waiter seemed to forget we were there and had to be reminded by the somelier that we were still waiting.
The restaurant really is trying to be a fine dining restaurant but unfortunately it is not, rather dated and old fashioned.
The starters were good albeit rather small but the steaks we had were very over done and almost cold. The wine waiter however was excellent and gave a professional service unfortunately the other staff were not as good.

We had dinner at the Brasserie our first night in Amsterdam, since it was convenient and we were tired. The meal was absolutely excellent in its own right. The service was attentive, friendly, helpful on everything from choosing our dishes from a 3-course menu to wine choices. Well worth a visit even if you are not staying in the hotel.

My friend and I have had a wonderful dining experience at Brasserie Ambassade.
The waiter, Sergio, offered the highest standard of service. He is attentive and has offered us good recommendations of wine.
We ordered 4-course tasting menu with an unbeatable price of only around 47 euro. I truly and highly recommend everyone who would like to have a delighted fine dining experience in Amsterdam!

Every member of staff greeted me as I entered the Brasserie, all with a warming smile.
Absolutely amazing service from the moment I sat down to when I left, I didn’t get the waiters name but he was very attentive and made sure I was well looked after.
The starter was sensational, best sea bass I have ever eaten.
The Waiter noticed I wasn’t too happy with my main and provided with me with another dish to compensate without me even asking.
I would definitely recommend dining here; with the beautiful artwork on the walls to the stunning view of the canal through the full length windows!
I will most certainly be dining here again!

We had the most wonderful experience here for my daughters 30th birthday. As we were a large group of 9 they put a special table in the library room which made it a private dining experience. Everything was excellent - food, waiters and the atmosphere. Cannot fault them

As part of a day trip to Amsterdam, we stopped by Brasserie Ambassade for lunch. This was largely based on the excellent reviews we had read online.
From the minute we stepped inside to the moment we left, the entire experience was just wonderful. The staff and Maitre D' were very welcoming and were happy to run through all the available dishes and were also full of suggestions of things to do on our short trip in the city.
As for the food itself, it was just superb! I would highly recommend the steak frites, due to the sheer perfection of the actual cooking which was top notch.
So for anyone looking for a great place to eat, please step inside Brasserie Ambassade - you will not be disappointed! We will certainly be back the next time we're in the Netherlands.

We had a quick overnight at the hotel and decided to give the restaurant a try. This was far better than anticipated - it is not a typical "steak frite" type of brasserie but rather the food is very sophisticated with refined presentation and excellent service. We did the two course option of the prix fixe chef's menu - tuna three ways appetizer and lamb main were both exceptional. Breakfast the next morning was buffet plus eggs/crepes and was excellent, as well. All with fetching views of the canal out the large windows and with wonderful modern art on the walls. Incredible value for the moderate price. Highly recommended.

Nothing to mention. I mean, nothing bad to mention. Service ran very smoothly, with eye for detail and really high-quality service. The waiter Lars was very keen on his products and very knowledgeable. With help of the other waiter, Josephine, they did a very good job in delivering us the best evening possible. The cooks did not do under for the service though, what they served was really spot-on. Very delicate. We literally enjoyed every bite of what we had. Would highly recommend Brasserie Ambassade to anyone who's looking for a good restaurant. Or a bar. As we had drinks in the bar as well. A very nice bar in the hotel which is covered by more than 5.000 books. A real eye-catcher. You're able to order what ever you like at bartender Achmed, who's very attentive. It doesn't really matter wat to order. Almost everything's possible. A dutch spirit or an Manhattan, a wide variety of products are served there.

As part of a "staycation"-special we ate in the Brasserie 3 evenings in a row. We opted for the "chef's choice" and let ourselves be surprised. Beforehand they very thoughtfully asked if there was anything we _didn't_ eat. It was a great experience to be surprised with delicious dishes. We let the staff pick our wines, and we were delighted with their choices. We had three very different meals and all were wonderful.
The staff was wearing facemasks, and had made sure there was enough space between tables, so we felt comfortable eating there (covid-wise and all).

The dinner was amazing, I can highly recommend the Cote de Boeuf and the Confit de Canard. The 3-course special they offer to their guests during COVID, is worth way more than what they ask for. 10/10

After having walked around the city all day, we were blessed with a warm welcome in this wonderful establishment. This is discreet and unpretentious sophistication with a menu of just the right length, and everything prepared to perfection. Taste the confit de canard! A pleasing selection of wines. The staff are particularly attentive and simply want you to enjoy the experience. That was not difficult, as we also had a magnificent view of the canal, with the slowly changing light of a long July evening. Days do not always conclude as succsessfully as this. Van harte bedankt! As the restaurant is currently closed, we got to have dinner in the hotel room. The room is nicely set up with a table and all the necessary cutlery.
The dishes can be picked up separately, in order to make sure everything is fresh.
Really enjoyed the steak tartare in particular.
Overall good quality food and friendly staff. The only thing that was a little disappointing was the hamburger, but maybe it just wasn’t what we were expecting.
