About

We booked a lunch and hotel stay (the only way to enjoy book a table in the weeks we were in country). The reception at the hotel was already extraordinary and we got amazed further every hour after.
The food was not surprisingly amazing, but the service was outstanding as well.
Breakfast was even of such a quality and had so much attention to it, that we fear the disappointment at any hotel we will stay at next.

Business lunch should always be like this...
This is probably the worlds most accessible three star Michelin restaurant. Very casual, very down to earth accessible with mind-blowing dishes with lots of thought, techniques and presentation both very old school and quite new school. Skill is not used for the sake of skill but to deliver the sensation, the experience and the emotion. Most memorable are the ‘ Broodje Paling’ and the ‘ Hunnebedden’. About the former: Based on local cuisine, the chefs personal taste, old technique, some table-side cooking and a very original cocktail this is a unique amalgation of both haute cuisine , Dutch Cucina Povere and originality. A very thought provoking take on eal sandwich. For me, this is Dutch culture at it’s best: Bravo!
Concerning ‘ Hunnebedden’: The young chef responsible for this dish deserves praise; this dish is a reimagination of ‘Desert’. Describing it does not do any justice to the experience. Surprise, wonder, reward comes to mind.
Highly recommended.

Without doubt great food, inventive, beautifully presented, tasty and where possible local. After so many years it is still true 3 star quality. Service good but not exceptional, no soul. Wine list is good but by no way the best in the Netherlands. What is absolutely horrible is the interior of the restaurant, expensive for sure but a boudoir has usually better taste.

Lovely setting, friendly staff, all dishes (close to) perfect and yet. We had perhaps in total 20 little dishes with all at least 5 ingredients prepared 3 different ways in 3 hours time (lunch). It's all just too much so there's not 1 dish that stood out, not 1 experience that we can remember.
What we will remember is the hostess in a way too tight outfit who we haven't seen smiling one time. The staff kept walking around, we liked the seating which is informal and facing the center of the courtyard (we sat next to each other which was very cozy and pleasant) , service was great, but cutlery was not always clean.
An experience definitely and we wouldn't want to have missed it (not even for 250 euro pp without drinks) but there's no 1 dish we will remember and we probably won't go back...
oh and parking an electric car in the vicinity... the car park with 400 lotz in total has only 2 for electric cars...

When you arrive on the street, you will be met by many staff, which makes for a pleasant arrival. Your car will immediately be taken over for parking and you will be relieved of the hassle of finding a parking space! Lots of ladies at reception to receive you and show you to your seat. We are amazed at the number of staff. The amuse-bouches are special and not really to my taste, style over substance. The fact that a taste passport was presented is nice and a great initiative for new products. The watermelon dish is spectacular! A real wow moment. But in such a restaurant you expect that you can sit comfortably and that is certainly not the case here. Not on the couch and not on the chairs and you sit here for 4 to 5 hours.
The staff is super fast... on the one hand pleasant, on the other hand there is chaos and the dishes are rushed off when they are put on the table. It comes across as very impersonal and businesslike... even though there are so many staff. A lot of attention has been paid to the dishes when designing and serving them (which plate, etc.) It's nice to see how people finish dishes at the table itself. Only this happens at such a speed, it's bizarre. The dessert was a real disappointment, you expect to end up with something sweet...chocolate mousse with rum and shrimp...not the taste I was hoping for. Then 3x citrus, a sad ending. So I went for the friandises.
In short, a mixed feeling about the Librije, hence enough.

What a fantastic experience! Booked dinner and overnight stay here in honor of my employee's 10th anniversary. Enjoyed everything from start to finish. Reception was very friendly with a cocktail. After first visiting the city center, we were escorted to our hotel rooms. What a beautiful room (licorice).
At 7:10 PM we were picked up in the lobby to go to the restaurant. Beautifully decorated in a Christmas atmosphere and a nice spot in the middle. The staff is incredibly friendly and we found the feminine blonde sommelier a pleasure to have at the table. Spontaneous and certainly not too stiff and yet knowledgeable about wine. Serving the beautiful dishes went very quickly (could have been a little slower) and was synchronized, which was very nice to see! The dishes were really of exceptional quality, with the absolute highlights:
foie gras with shrimps, pike-perch with bacon, oyster and watermelon tartare. My taste buds have never been worked so much. Delicious wine pairing that matches the dishes perfectly.
As icing on the cake, we were invited to take a look in the kitchen and behind the scenes. As a catering entrepreneur, this is really nice to experience. To end the evening with a photo with the owners was great! Then had a lovely drink in the lobby and went to bed feeling satisfied. The next morning we had a 4-course breakfast, but we were still full from the night before. Also a feast for the eyes. Unfortunately I didn't get my glass of milk, but that didn't spoil the fun. Being able to tick a highlight off my bucket list.✅

A year waiting (waiting list), so full in. Overnight with extensive menu and wine and breakfast. Location really great and a warm welcome by the staff. The rooms are nice, good beds and equipped with every luxury. During dinner you immediately see the well-oiled ‘machine’. Maybe too much. Many staff, nothing escapes them and are friendly. A setback is then the "attention" of Terrese and Jonnie. Yes, they come to your table, but the passion is missing. A standard ‘gem’ but it certainly doesn’t feel personal. The food is of course very good, but compared to the regularity of good other star restaurants (or some with the ambition of a star), certainly not the special thing we hoped or expected. (Yes the expectation was high). One of The closings, chocolate with a shrimp mouse, was certainly not our taste and not even for us tasty.
Unfortunately, we both woke up sick that night and therefore did not sleep well. We reported that immediately in the morning, but little attention was paid to it. Therefore also little appetite and not fully enjoyed the rich breakfast. At checkout (although almost €1500) reported again from our night. They'd pass it on to the chief. NEVER heard from him again.
Why wait so long to write a review. We would have loved to have had our best experience here. The foot almost as shame not to write a very good review. But now six months later with many good experiences with lesser starred restaurants, we still wanted to get rid of it. Too bad. Especially since there was no attention from our comment and unfortunately bad night.

This is the best food I have eaten in my life. Great service, lovely atmosphere and well chosen wines, but the perfection is in the food. We celebrated my birthday here with two vegetarian menu’s and were amazed. We loved the pumpkin that tasted like salmon, the magic of watermelon tartare and an amazing gado gado dessert. Magic!

Located in a beautiful location in the center of Zwolle
The hotel was well equipped with every luxury
The service in the restaurant and the hotel is more than excellent
The food is of a high standard, but we still found that many dishes had the same taste
The breakfast was not normally good, here too you are really spoiled
The only downside is the price, we thought you have to pay a lot for what you get
It is a beautiful experience to experience

This was really enjoyable! Did the backstage arrangement with a group of friends. We were enough people to reserve the entire space exclusively. It was a really great experience where every dish not only looked beautiful, but also tasted delicious. The explanation of the cooks, the tour of the restaurant and being allowed to “make” a dish completed this experience. We have been to some star shops but the Librije is by far the best and a justified three star restaurant.

Finally eating at Librije. 3 star restaurant, expectations are high. Did they come true? Unfortunately no. We are overwhelmingly welcomed by a lot of staff. We are even guided to the toilet, while the signs could have shown us the way. Our napkin is replaced 5 times even though we don't even notice that it has a stain. We did have the best spot, a good overview and what is striking is that there is virtually no interaction with the staff. They are well trained and can almost flawlessly recite the same story at every table. But then because you go there for the food. Phew, what do you think about that? You cannot taste the ingredients mentioned in each dish. It seems to be more about the presentation than the taste. Flavor explosion, unfortunately not. After 10 courses, 2 of which stood out, we went home disappointed. The bill didn't lie. A well-oiled machine I admit. I wonder who judges whether this is worthy of 3 stars. Know many restaurants with lesser reviews that do better.

Despite the fact that we had made a mistake about the date we had booked and were fantastically beautiful ready for an afternoon of our lives, they tried very hard at the Librije to still provide a table (which unfortunately did not work out). We were allowed to sit in the lobby, got a delicious drink and an alternative was devised for us. We ended up enjoying an excellent lunch at Bras Boer Thuis, but the service at Librije despite our own mistake was worthy of review!

For the 3rd time in a row a true triumph through tastes and experiences. The spider house has become a place of pilgrimage for me where I go once every 2.5 years. And that trend will continue towards a 4th time. Nowhere would I rather eat. Just walking around in the corridors of this temple makes me radiate with happiness. How in love I am with this place! This time we went for the backstage experience. Very nice! One point of attention here: the dining table is very cozy but a little too dark. You don't see the dishes very well anymore and that's a bit of a shame for how beautiful they look.

Looking forward to it for a year. High expectations of course. In the end, all 4 of us were a bit disappointed. We found the restaurant a bit dated. Room was really beautiful! We had the Magnolia.
The food was tasty but little. We were all still quite hungry. Opted for cheese to fill ourselves, which we thought was a shame. Quite an event when the dishes were delivered. It will all be part of it of course, but it really was a play. There was no real interaction.
We also heard a lot about breakfast, but we were really disappointed. A few rolls, some toppings, a coconut souffle and well... I've already mentioned most of it. You could also have gotten this from a Valk, so to speak. For the money we paid I find it very disappointing.

Of course the food here is top notch and the service is great, the atmosphere is special and the wines are fabulous, but if you compare Librije to, for example, Brut, the Jane, Tribeca and the unfortunately recently closed Interscaldes, I think you get a much better experience there in all areas. . The interior is absolutely outdated. The abundance of employees makes it restless, everyone rattles off the same tune with every dish so you hear it at least 4 times, the chef does his obligatory rounds and it seems like a reasonably rehearsed play. Therese floats from table to table but does nothing at all. I have been to many top restaurants, but Librije is top, for sure, but is definitely not in my top 10. It was a nice afternoon, but to talk in Michelin terms... not worth spending a lot of time there again. for driving.
@Librije please do something about those plants in the middle of the place. Sorry, but that is really not possible and using the same plate twice for 8 courses... I don't think that is possible with 3 stars either. Certainly not if it is already such an outspoken sign.
