The restaurant has its own parking which is convenient. It offers a "small portions" menu were you can choose 4 dishes for starters and main (or how many you like), finishing with one desert. It all tasted very nice, wine was good as well. In the summer they offer a nice decked area on the canal! Only reason for not... More

After our disastrous experience in Noordwijk (see my review of the Hotel d'Oranje), I needed to take my mother somewhere new. This was perfect. Beautiful setting on the outskirts of Leiden next to the Oude Rijn and the Noordman wood and wine businesses and their wind-driven sawmill. This was our first visit to their third leg - the Woods restaurant.... More

The location is great, it is situated with a terrace on the water which makes it a great place to sit and enjoy. The food is small but inventive, The filet american starter was incredible and the desert brownie was also amazing. The main course of cod however, seemd a bit out of character. Nevertheless the food was great. And... More

We ordered lunch, while all around us, everyone was ordering high tea. The desserts were nicely presented, but didn't look that amazing. Our lunch came on very small plates. Old-style nouvelle cuisine approach--micro-greens, one slice of radish, a mini-morsel of foie gras... Plates are only 12.50 euro each, which sounds like a deal until you get that they're making their... More

Great outdoor seating along the canal. Blankets provided for. Menu has changed from tradtional to a variety of smaller dishes. Friendly service.

Dishes that offer complexity in flavour and elegant presentation. Service was outstanding in being attentive without being obtrusive and being informative about dishes and wines on offer. Great setting all result in an outstanding experience. An example of the dishes was the boeuf la roche which featured a reduction that was perfectly executed creating a dish that went from being... We visited midweek about 8pm, it was quiet (about 5 other tables). Set in an old windmill (saw mill?) on the river, the atmosphere was welcoming and somehow modern and clean. The waitress was very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable and we had the same waitress for the whole of the evening. Food was excellent. The dishes are small, well prepared... More

I have been to many 'conference dinners' over the years and this one takes my number one spot. Beautiful situation located right on the canal so the evening began with a delicious glass of chilled white wine (the house!). Then inside for superb food and more delicious wines. The staff were great and helpful and the whole evening was excellent... More

I felt really stupid that it took me some time to realize everything was made of wood... That's just entourage, though, because the restaurant has been named for it's location (in the past, boats carrying wood would come to shore there, at the base of the mill). Woods has a dinner concept that suits a classy restaurant, yet is highly... More

Visited the restaurant while participating to a congress and was pleasantly surprised. Located by the canal, we enjoyed a glas of wine outside in really nice and peaceful surroundings. For dinner we chose the chefs surprise menu, and the food was excellent. The waiters were friendly and helpful, and on top of all the prices were reasonable. I really recommend... More
