We had drinks here earlier today. My daughter found a sharp shard of glass in her drink. 'Oh, we're sorry' is all the staff cared to say.

My first restaurant in Mechelen and it set the bar for other restaurants. the food was tasty and the service and atmosphere were excellent.
Went to Belgium for a 6 weeks period together with a business colleague and stayed in a hotel in Mechelen. We tried Den Beer on one of the first nights and ended up coming back regularly a couple of nights each week. Great food, service and atmosphere combined with reasonable prices made the choice easy. Going to Mechelen, I recommend... More
Visited this place as we were told they prepared good food, unfortunately it was a very disappointing experience. Being a group of 5 we ordered 2 x Chateau Briand, prepared to be served as rare. 1 was served rare to medium, but sort of average ok. 1 was served as medium to well done. I asked for the waiter and... More
We have spent a good time in this restaurant for a quick business dinner. Service was fast and friendly, maybe they can try to communicate little bit more to sell more. Food was very good, served in nice way. I’m sure that I will come back when I will be again in Mechelen. Dinner for 3 people; starters + main... More

We didn't book but the four of us managed to get a table Thursday evening. Ten minutes after it was packed. Waiter explained our menu and was very helpful. I recommend sharing the Chateau Briand. It was cooked to perfection and reasonably priced. Good selection of wines available. Busy local restaurant with good selection of food.
Went there just after 6 and for a "brasserie" it didn't served drinks only. They didn't told us when they gave us seats, only when we ordered only drinks. If we wanted to stay we should have ordered a meal. If you handel such a rule hang it in front of the door or make people aware of it.
Fine dining, lovely atmosphere, good service on the mark a nice evening with delicious food. We were spoilt
