This restaurant was recommended by friends, but it's still unclear why.. The menu is rather limited, the service was a bit awkward, the food quality was average. Setting is nice, but on a Saturday evening only 4 to 5 tables were taken.

I dine at this restaurant on my regular(ish) visits to Brussels. It is a cosy and charming place with courteous and informal service. The food is really good. I am mad about those prawn croquettes, I could eat a dozen at one go and die happy.

It's very unfortunate and it's the second time. First the service. It's one of those places where you don't feel in Brussels but rather in Paris with a waitress or the owner seem to be unhappy to work and serve. Doesn't look at you and should be doing something else. The place is charming and the menu is tempting. The... More

Relax place to be - nice outside sitting under big tree, good food and friendly service. Good selection of wine & beers, and original food combinations. Good for a quick lunch and great for a relax evening drink & dinner on a sunny evening.

We visited this restaurant on a Saturday summer evening. We just walked by and the terrace looked really nice , a bit romantic and cozy. There is a big tree with a lot of little lights. Food was nice and the staff was friendly. I think we sat outside for 3 hours if not more. Prices were '' normal'' dinner... More

We were staying at an Airbnb one block away and stopped and stopped at l'Arrière Pays. We were attracted by the terrace. We were warmly welcomed. The food was nice and we spent a good evening.

Good location, service and ambience, but food was either a heart attack on a plate or very very bland. Won't be going back!

Good "tartines" and salads but very slow service even if the waitress was not so busy... Average prices.

We went to this place twice this month once for brunch - absolutely delicious! The menu offers such interesting and exciting choice that I couldn't wait to get back. We went again for dinner and the coq au vin was divine. Service both times was outstanding. Particularly in a city which boasts itself on being child- friendly but hard to... More

Description
LArriere Pays restaurant in Brussels near the huge museum and the Palais Royal is a rustic, casual restaurant-cum-epicerie that also is a charming spot for tea or an early-evening drink. The front room is a shop for reagional, artisanal products are sold. The dining rooms are kitted out with solid wood floors and furniture and walls the colour of sun-ripened tomatoes, a cosy ambience for light lunches and suppers. Choices include salads, cold or warm tartines, pastas, tartiflette, steaks and vegetarian dishes. The tiramisu with speculoos and genievre (Dutch gin) is an inspired combination, and artisan ice creams keep the inner child quiet for quite a while. The terrace seats up to 60 a terrific choice for a group or private meal, and the whole restaurant can be booked for events.
