A little restaurant with a special every night. Old fashion, probably family owened brasserie, serving French-Belgian dishes. Very good house wine and a memorable steak.

l'Achepot or HPO is a wonderful small restaurant that smothers you with loving service and delicious food and wine, at a price. Come here with your loved one, or your business partners, and expect to pay 100 Euro per head to feel pampered inside and out.

Sadly, l'Achepot is no more. It shut down in Spring 2015 and as of June 2015 has been replaced by a Japanese noodle bar. I haven't eaten there so can't judge its quality. This one-star review therefore doesn't relate to the new establishment, but is posted to alert trip advisor readers that the restaurant they might have been hoping to... More

We went here for dinner on a cold Monday evening. I had been there before, but it seemed to have had a makeover. The writing on the "Specials" blackboard was still impossible to read, though. The food was OK to good; there was some invention (mackerel rillettes with lentils were very good) and some standard dishes (Steak Tartare 'cut with... More

I was attracted to this restaurant after noticing three micheling guide stickers on the door. However, it's a "below-average brasserie". Food is not the best - i had a tartare and it was just good. Oysters also didn't impress me.

I enjoyed a lovely, perhaps rather pricey, lunch with wine at l'Hpo whilst Christmas shopping. Solo dining is always a little tricky but despite my very rusty schoolgirl French and total lack of Flemish, the maître de was very welcoming and patient explaining the limited, always good in my opinion, menu. I enjoyed stuffed pork trotter followed by the fish... More

When choosing a restaurant, one of the main things I look for is good ambiance. And despite a good location, I was rather underwhelmed by L'Achepot. The food was good, however the service was rather unimpressive, and perhaps explained why this restaurant was rather less busy than its neighbours on an idyllic summer's evening. If you can get past that,... More

This restaurant in the old center on 1, place Sainte Catherine is true find. Very good local cuisine in a pleasant setting. Price rather in the top, but totally justified by the quality of food and service. A highly recommend ...

Nice, small restaurant serving great food. Shame that the damp smells from the cellar overpowered the (much nicer) aroma from the kitchen.

Eating in the centre of Brussels, or indeed any large city, can be a bit of a hit and miss experience - too often, the staff seem only too aware that tourists, who are unlikely to come back anyway, make up a large share of their clientele, so the quality of the food and service can tend to suffer. So... More
