We booked to eat here and were not disappointed. Good wine and food and the waiters very helpful and knowledgeable. Very close to the Pousada.

This lovely restaurant is hidden behind a simpel façade. We had lunch and were pleasantly surprised by the excellent service and the wonderfully refined local dishes and pastries. Really a treat on a beautiful hot sunny day.

We went there on a saturday night, withou any reservation. They were almost packed but managed to get us a table outside. Which was actually very nice as it was very hot that night. The couvert was a mix of pates and butter with bread. It wasnt that good, very strong flavours, which get you tired fast enough. As main... More

This restaurant in the small city of Estremoz is startling! Since you arrive, the personnel will make sure you are comfortable and happy. The food seems really for kings/queens; the quality, the flavour and presentation are superb! Wines and the service are very good as well! Price is regular. I highly recommend eating at Sao Rosas!, I loved the experience... More

Best food we have had during our stay in Portugal so far - indeed, one of the best meals we have had anywhere in some time. Varied menu on a local theme - the dishes we had were excellent quality. Helpful and attentive staff. One of our more expensive meals (our bill was approx €65), but the quality of food... More

Arrived at Pousada next door and decided to try this for lunch. Staff was very slow to react to our arrival, seemed even less interested when we asked for Mateus Rose and grudgingly served us a light lunch. Prices were high only because of their location next to one of the most famous Pousadas, certainly not for the quality of... More

This restaurant was humming- fortunately we had booked for lunch during the previous evening. Great ambience and super food: used mainly by locals. The owner was there as well as the vineyard owner of the wine we chose- which made for a great discussion.Had the local pork dish which was delicious- but large portions ! Very friendly staff with good... More

We were staying in the Pousada next door - their restaurant was beautiful but cavernous and no staff on sight. Sao Rosas is right next door. From the moment you enter you know this will be an outstanding meal. Decor is fabulous, staff attentive but discreet, the menu will suit every one. We returned for a second evening. Food is... More

Located in the Castle of Estremoz square, Sao Rosas alludes to the well known legend of the Miracle of the Roses attributed to Holy Queen Isabel.
Queen Isabel was giving bread to the poor against the will of King D.Dinis, and when surprised by the King in this gesture, the Queen answered: It's roses (Sao Rosas), transforming the bread into flowers.
Sao Rosas opened in 1994 by the Chef Margarida Cabaco and is today a multi-award restaurant, recognized nationally and internationally. Sao Rosas is dedicated to the Portuguese cuisine, highlighting the very old traditional cuisine of Alentejo.
