This restaurant is located in one of the traditional neighborhoods of Lisbon, right next to the Fado Museum. It's a good option for dinner with small groups. Try the São Miguel Codfish - cooked with onion and wine.

The worst restaurant experience ever. It is not only about food as we had a chance to eat only a starter but the atmosphere and education of the owners. We entered to the restaurant after long day and wanted only to chill a bit while listening to Fado. It didn't seem welcoming from the very beginning but as it was... More

Very few songs, the food was mediocre at best, and not even that cheap, slow service (one waiter for entire place.)

We were a group of French people and came here for the fado. Obviously, right? Well dinner was actually good (an excellent dourada fish), but in 2.5 hours we had exactly 6 songs. They make a point of being slow in the service to disguise the absence of action. Only one server for the whole restaurant. Why? They have a... More

Slow and bad service. The food is below average. While the golden bream was OK the steak was just awful. And it isn't even that cheap. The only reason people end up here is the location and maybe the Fado.

Fado restaurant located in the Alfama district of Lisbon. We wanted to go to hear fado and picked this restaurant as we were walking around as it looked interesting. We had a decent meal and the music was good, two guitarists accompanying the singers (two females and one male each took turns). Nothing to compare to but we enjoyed our... More

The Restaurant Sao Miguel D Alfama is placed in the oldest quarter of the Lisbon city, but S. Miguel restoran is more than a restaurant, it is also a fado music home. Fado is Portuguese was born in Lisbon, here in Alfama. A symbol of the nation it tells stories of the sea, the people and nostalgia - saudad. The... More

Overpriced and as far as the cod main course is concerned overcooked. The service was painfully slow which would have been OK if the food had been worth waiting for, but it wasn't. Drinks also expensive and the wine we had was a bit bland. Puddings were a help yourself affair, we didn't bother as some looked like they had... More

The restaurant we wanted to go to was full so we ended up at this one. Very crowded but nice ambiance. Enjoyed the two female fado singers and the classical and Portuguese guitar. My husband enjoyed his meal, mine was mediocre at best. Meals reasonably priced but wine and water priced high and the dessert buffet wAs , I thought,... More

The food is absolutely normal. No seasoning, lots of grease. The cod was completely unsalted, no flavor, only oil on it. The fado... Well, good singers, but you'll have to be quiet during the 5-minute performance. They are rude and will ask you to shut up. That polite. Singers are good, but awfully wannabe people. And the unexpected thing: they... More

Staying in Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria

Neighbourhood Profile
Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria
Explore narrow streets and alleyways, small cafes and, of course, the internationally acclaimed Fado music. The earth-shattering Great Earthquake of 1755 destroyed most of the city but the contiguous neighborhoods of Mouraria, Castelo and Alfama remained standing to this day. These neighborhoods represent Lisbon at its historical best. The cool breeze of the Tagus river will take you up the hills to the sound of Fado, where you'll discover the best "tascas," eat delicious fresh fish and drink great wines. Discover hidden viewpoints and ancient traces of other civilizational ruins in the heart of the Portuguese capital. These are centuries-old neighborhoods that will welcome you to the very best of old Lisbon culture.
