A nice local restaurant that offer good local dishes and seadood, conveniently located near the Elevador de Santa Justa. It is quite busy though so we had to wait a bit before being seated, and the restaurant doesn't take reservation.

We were the first customers to arrive at the restaurant at 7 pm. The service was swift. The waiter brought out two entrees that we did no order. We return one. Be mindful that the entrees were not complementary. Average food though the serve were huge.

Hotel staff recommended this place so thought we'd give it a try. Got there a little after 19:00 and glad we did; by 20:00 the place was mobbed with people waiting outside. Service was very good / efficient; staff helpful getting our order translated. Starters were delivered (per local custom, you get bread / cheese / meat and can choose... More

we walked around. saw trip advisor sign. saw the menu saw the locals. tried it. unfortunately we waited for 45 min to eat due to peak times. tight spaces but tasty simple grilled foods, enough to chill out. the wait staff are congenial and patient. memorable for us - the wait, the hidden gem feel and the food. thanks!(but nit... Our group of 3 noticed this place on a walk from the plaza en route to hotel, for the fact it was busy with locals rather than tourists. We went back tonight, grabbed a good table by the front window. Witjin 30 minutes, the place was full, and late diners had to wait 10-15 minutes. Quality of food ingredients is... More

Recommended by our hotel, this provided extremely good quality Portuguese Food in pleasant and unpretentious surroundings. This restaurant appears to be popular, particularly with locals. You cannot book so it is best to eat early evening to avoid possible extended waits in a queue out in the street. There are two dining rooms, each with about 12 or more tables.... More

We were recommended this place by our hotel, 100m away, as a good traditional restaurant. We waited about 15 minutes for our table as the place was full with mostly locals - a good sign for what we were after. As soon as we were seated, we were given cod croquettes and octopus salad without asking for them. Interestingly, it... More

We had high hopes on the basis of seeing people lined up the previous night to our visit. This is definitely not an establishment that I would ever wait in line. They did not accept reservations so we arrived at 7:00 pm with mostly tourists who eat earlier than Portuguese. We were promptly seated and then the show began. The... More

This place fills up fast and that will come as no surprise if you have eaten here. The menu reflects some typical Portuguese food and the waiters seem happy to please and make you feel part of the place. The fish is especially good but the meat is nice as well. Try the cod fish cakes and homemade sausage for... More

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
