The waiter kindly explained everything on the menu to the five of us, and surroundings were nice, but the main dishes were nothing out of the ordinary. The fish stew tasted ok but essentially anonymous white fish in simple sauce. The 'pudim de mel' (honey pudding) was excellent.

A wonderful way to treat my wife who was born in Azores island. She was overwhelmed with the authenticity of the cuisine and quality of the restaurant

We had an absolutely amazing meal at Espaco Acores. the owner picked our wines and advised us on some unusual dinner choices like the limpit clam. everything was delicious! He made us feel as though we were eating in a friend's kitchen who just breezed in from the beautiful Azure islands. You must experience this lovely restaurant!!!

Very good food. We enjoyed soup starters (soup about the most bland thing on the menu if you have young picky kids), followed by filet, octopus & tuna mains. All very tasty, prepared in an unusual style. Portions very generous. Menu only in Portuguese but the waiter was happy to translate.

I lived five years in the Azores and I assure you that the food is almost the same. They bring the sausages and the meat from the islands and they cook it the same way. Also in the Azores the food is not exactly the same in the big restaurants and in the small places. The tuna is outstanding! The... More

Food, restaurant itself and service, everything amazing. Food is truly one the best i've ever had. Meat was very tasty and the wine was very good (recommended by the waiter). Service was very good and accompanied by several stories about Açores. It was my second visit and i absolutely loved it. Will return soon...

Espaço Azores is a unique place to try the food of the Azores. Thursdays is an amazing day to go there for lunch or dinner. They offer an extensive and not that expensive buffet through the flavors of the region. From fish soup, chorizos, black pudding, octopus, several meats to sweet eggs desserts you can try everything. The owners are... More

The owner is always present to give you the best suggestions of the day and explain how the food is cooked. Nice menu with almost all the typical recipes from Azores. Fish and also meat, don't forget to taste the deserts. Also good and inexpensive wine.

This is a quiet restaurant for locals where you have the chance to eat genuine food from Azores. The food is really well prepared and the owners are really friendly, I recommend Lapas and the morcela as starters. I really enjoy the Lagarto (steak with garlic) as the main dish. The passion fruit mousse is also great.

Staying in Chiado & Carmo

Neighbourhood Profile
Chiado & Carmo
The traditionally trendy "Chiado" (literally, "squeak", the nickname of a 16th century poet) offers plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars where you can stop for a cafe or cocktail, after exploring its streets, shops, art galleries, theaters, museums and viewpoints. It's also the home to the statue of the famous statue of portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa, having is usual espresso at "A Brasileira" as he used to. You can also enjoy breathtaking views of Lisbon from the Elevador de Santa Justa or the Carmo Convent, for example. A commercial neighborhood at its core, especially for its Garrett and Carmo streets, Chiado is to this day a mandatory visit in Lisbon.
