Visited in our short stay in Lisbon. Christina and Antonio were very welcoming, we wanted local food and they brought us a variety and recommended what they thought was best (not problems there as it certainly met expectations). Christina tempted us with deserts and provided a selection plate which was brilliant, enquiring of course which was best. Invited back for... More

My husband and I recently moved to Lisbon and decided to try Madragoa Cafe, as it is just around the corner from our apartment. It was an exceptional experience from start to finish! The space is lovely and intimate. Another reviewer mentioned the small space as a problem. For us, it was quite the contrary. We love how cozy it... More

Christina, Antonio, and the staff were underful and were gracious hosts. The food was well prepared and highlighted by exceptional sauces. When Christina saw that I could not finish the plentiful meal, she prepared a sandwich with the leftovers that I took back to our rented apartment to enjoy for breakfast.

We booked a table for 7, when we arrived we faced a very small space for this amount of people. Despite its beautiful decoration, we could barely fit in the table. The food took too long to come (approx 1 hour), and there were some misunderstandings and mistakes from the waitress (e.g too much time to serve the drinks, took... More

Thank you so much to the staff at Madragoa Cafe. Everything was freshly made - the sardines were perfect, the tomato soup really flavoursome and the salmon dish was slowly cooked, the flavours were amazing, and the dish was just divine. The waiter was really attentive, and it was really clear how much the staff cared about their food, and... More

We went there on Monday evening with two small children. Both exhausted after a day sightseeing in Lisbon. Cristina was so nice and we immediately felt very welcome. She recommended a tasty, delicious traditional Portuguese dish. Just excellent. Everything is freshly cooked with original Portuguese ingredients. We made a reservation for Wednesday as well. Highly recommended to stop by. A... More

Cristina and Antonio are wonderful hosts. They never rush you, they explain everything on the menu, and most importantly the food is delicious. We both had seafood which was fresh and very tasty. The starters and desserts were great as well. They infuse everything with humor and love. One of our best nights on the trip. Will definitely return next... More

Especially if it's your first time in Lisbon, it will be the perfect start to a perfect holiday. Cristina and Antonio (owners) and Antonio (best waiter ever) are unique characters. They are smart, funny and incomparable hosts. We travel to Lisbon every year but haven't found such service-minded restaurant owners and staff, at least not at their price range. We... More

The Madragoa Cafe is a place where you can find a traditional Portuguese cuisine, where the products used are fresh and Portuguese. The predominant wines are from the Douro region, however it is possible to find wines from other regions. The dishes are a selection of some of the best that each region of Portugal has to offer. The desserts are traditional and some are made at the restaurant. The affection with which clients are received, that comes from the heart. See you soon!
