Food was amazing with lots of choices and prices were great and service excellent. The place gets really busy and lots of locals so a good sign!

I was twice in this place. It’s a local, rustic restaurant, with tasty food and really fast service and reasonable prices. All dishes looked great. We ate codfish, shrimp patty, meat patty, pastel bacalhau, calmari. Customers are mainly Portuguese, what makes this place real (I don’t like strictly touristic restaurants).

Generous portions and service was quick. Food was of average quality and the Bifana was quite dry. Calamari lacked freshness. A place for a quick lunch if rushed for time but not recommended if looking for traditional Portuguese flavour.

This place was highly recommended for bifana (pork sandwich with mustard) but I wasn't impressed. Seemed like a tourist trap to me especially when it's just outside the Rossio railway station. Pork was tender but that's about it. I didn't see what all the hype was about. I wouldn't avoid but wouldn't recommend either. Staff were friendly though.

What was a workers restaurant where rustic food is served at a hectic pace is also now a mix with tourists but still mainly local. It is situated just by the local railway station. Inside it is pretty basic with an exterior window that reveals a chef stirring various pots of enticing food. We found the service for dinner to... More

We simply wandered upon this place and immediately noticed locals devouring sumptuous meals... A quick scan of the menu and prices was an instant sell. All dishes looked great... We focused on squid and cod and other fish (beer and wine too), and skipped dinner that day as we too full. Highly recommend!

Nice place. Busy all the time. Fast and efficient service. Lots of locals, and tourists, come here for lunch or dinner. The selection is huge and the quality differs. We were there twice - the first time we hade Octopus Gallega and Clams - to huge portions, and very delicios. The second time we had sardines (not good) and an... More

This may have been the best meal we had in Lisbon so far. We started with a bifteca sandwich, which was absolutely delicious and only $2.50. For entrees we ordered the octopus salad and the shrimp, cod fish with rice. They were both fantastic. The octopus was served hot with olive oil, onions and olives. The shrimp, cod and rice... More

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
