We came here for dinner while visiting Lisbon. The restaurant was nicely decorated and there was a wall of fish tanks full of live jelly fishes. The service was excellent and we order a few seafood dishes which was fresh and well made, but not outstanding. It's quite expensive compared to other restaurants in Lisbon.

The restaurant decoration is very modern with a great environment. We asked for a quiet table which we got on the top floor with a view to downstairs tables. The meal was delicious and the time to serve was adequate during all dinner. We really liked the place and expect to come back soon.

Good food, good drinks and friendly staff. Smoking allowed inside which was quite unpleasant, but this is common practice in Portugal.

This restaurant could well compete with any hip restaurants in New York or Boston. The deco is at once dramatic and understated. The food was excellent. The service was good. It's a nice meal after a busy day touring. It's a place to celebrate a special occasion or the good fortunate of being in Lisbon.

Good place perfectly located in Chiado neighborhood. There is a mezzanine for a more cosy atmosphere. Good food and well designed rooms.

The service that we received was amazing! We started with a small order of seafood rissoto which was great! Next we split a scallop and seabass as well as a cod dish. Both were super fresh!! The waiter helped us pick a good bottle of wine as well. Great atmosphere and cool fish tanks.

I rated this place top a year ago, and was very eager to go back. Since I took my family, we went for lunch. Maybe that was a mistake. The slow cooked egg, a highlight of the last visit, was stone cold. The Iberico pork was very tender but also had an unpleasant taste. I would like to think that... More

Description
Set within one of the most up-market and iconic areas in Lisbon – Largo do Teatro S. Carlos, Chiado – it is located within a building of the Lisbon Patriarchy, given that the main wing of the restaurant is part of the old cloisters of the Convento da Igreja dos Mártires. Chiado is one of the busiest and most cosmopolitan areas in the capital and is a compulsory stop.

Consisting of a main floor, across the building, and a mezzanine, the space features several distinct areas, a combination of architectural concepts absolutely unique.

One of the striking features in the creative design of the restaurant is a 30-metre wall with three panes of black glass encased within the wall. They contain three large aquaria, populated with dozens of jellyfish that create an original effect with movement of dance and light.

Staying in Chiado & Carmo

Neighbourhood Profile
Chiado & Carmo
The traditionally trendy "Chiado" (literally, "squeak", the nickname of a 16th century poet) offers plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars where you can stop for a cafe or cocktail, after exploring its streets, shops, art galleries, theaters, museums and viewpoints. It's also the home to the statue of the famous statue of portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa, having is usual espresso at "A Brasileira" as he used to. You can also enjoy breathtaking views of Lisbon from the Elevador de Santa Justa or the Carmo Convent, for example. A commercial neighborhood at its core, especially for its Garrett and Carmo streets, Chiado is to this day a mandatory visit in Lisbon.
