We were recommended this place by a friend who did mention it is not super cheap, especially for someone living and working in Portugal. However, the food is definitely worth every penny! We tried most of the starters and then each had a main too - all were simply delicious. Our friends would have preferred more salt but we barely... More

We were quite excited to visit the Food Temple but unfortunately we not overly impressed. Staff were nice, perhaps a little pre-occupied with their own friends. Menu is small, they recommend getting multiple small meals to share, which ends up quite expensive! The food was quite basic and not worth the price - example penne pasta salad, soup, curry. The... Mouraria is a beautiful area in Lisbon and the restaurant is there. It's rather small, so it's better to make a reservation in advance. The food is in the indian style, all vegetarian and vegan. The taste of the food is heaven, even for my none-vegetarian friends, but the portions are rather small and you can't say it's a cheap... More

Inspired, warm and absolutely delicious! Everything The Food Temple represents is truly unique and certainly worth the trip. I've eaten in many vegan restaurants around the world, and this place is a legitimate top quality experience. Bring your appetite because you'll want to eat whatever they're serving. Great staff, wonderful beer selection and loads of local wines...what's not to like?... More

The place itself is very tiny, with tables so close on to the other it is like eating together with the other guests. But the food is really good, the service is peculiar and friendly and I would absolutely recommend this place.

Some of us we're slightly sceptic about the food offering but it was not bad at all. Tasty dishes, good beer selection, friendly staff.

I found this place just because I was walking in that neighbourhood, I felt immediately attracted and I decided to stay and have dinner there. That was possibly one of the most positive and beautiful dining experience I had in a very long time. The vibe in that place was fantastic, the staff were incredibly passionate about their jobs, food... More

I had dinner in this very charming and sympathetic place. There was only one option for the main course -- quinoa with beans, mushrooms and roasted peanuts for 10€, and unfortunately it was just... hmmm... bland and tasteless. BUT their selection of local craft beers was phenomenal! And it is a very cute place. I saw couples there on a... More

A romanic dinner spot with food prepared with love. Nicely spiced food, good drinks, café and a good menu/tapas choice. In my opinion one of the best spots in Lisbon to have a great lunch/dinner. Incredible what Alice the owner achieved in this neighbourhood! Congrats and go on with that great work!

We made dinner reservations and were well recieved by friendly staff. The restaurant is cozy and cute. We had soup, 3 starters, the main, and a dessert. Of the 6 dishes, 4 were creative and tasty, and 2 were very bland and disappointing. Based on portion size and quality, they were not worth the price. We all left still feeling... More

Staying in Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria

Neighbourhood Profile
Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria
Explore narrow streets and alleyways, small cafes and, of course, the internationally acclaimed Fado music. The earth-shattering Great Earthquake of 1755 destroyed most of the city but the contiguous neighborhoods of Mouraria, Castelo and Alfama remained standing to this day. These neighborhoods represent Lisbon at its historical best. The cool breeze of the Tagus river will take you up the hills to the sound of Fado, where you'll discover the best "tascas," eat delicious fresh fish and drink great wines. Discover hidden viewpoints and ancient traces of other civilizational ruins in the heart of the Portuguese capital. These are centuries-old neighborhoods that will welcome you to the very best of old Lisbon culture.
