I don't why I read some bad commentaries about this place; We discovered others Portos and wines from Madera. Because we ask to try somethnig new, Luciana propose us others wines like a blind test. It was very amazing and surprinsing. Thanks you Luciana.

We really enjoyed our wine tasting experience with our gracious hostess Luciella and her excellent wine choices highlighting the different regions in Portugal. The tapas were really an unexpected surprise, the Octopus bruscheta was divine. The chef is a rising star, make sure you sample his deserts as well.

This is a centrally located wine bar with a modern and tasteful decor which serves a large selection of wines by the glass or bottle from many parts of Portugal. There are also available local cheeses and tapas of local product. It was early in the evening and the place was not full and the very knowledgeable staff (possibly the... More

Excellent welcome from Francisco who was a pleasant and funny guest the whole evening. The selection of tapas was good especially the excellent local cheese. Close to the city center but not too busy.

Super wine bar with a lovely atmosphere and a welcome cheese and bread board which was delicious. Wines were super and the waiter allowed us lots of tasting which was fun - explained everything too in great English. Food wasn't brilliant. Overcooked and flavours weren't good - my friends 'sizzling' steak was perfect though - so a mixed bag. Come... More

We were a group of 5 people try to eat on a saturday night. They have a kind off promotion for a Tapa. The restaurant was half empty. With a big table. And they refuse to serve us because they have a table full of tourist. The waiter was very rude and said "if you want come back". run from... More

Over cooked food that was not represented fairly along with spotty service makes it hard to recommend this restaurant. It does have a nice ambiance but when the waiter almost knocked my wife over trying to get the the 1Euro tip we decided not to give this place a second chance. Too many other great choices

We stumbled on this restaurant by accident. We were looking for another restaurant which we could not find at all. We thought this restaurant looked nice so we gave it a try. The welcome was very hospitable. We ordered some tapas, but they had not many of the tapas which were on the menu, which was a negative. All in... More

From various experiences I've had, I cannot tell this is a good sport. Some of the tapas are really nice but some are not that good if you think how much it costs you. Some of the waiters are really nice, but one of them is really odd and even extremely inconvenient. May be worth the shot, if it's your... More

We came for lunch and it was a disaster. The server did not speak English, French or Spanish. He did not show us the menu just said the dish of the day was beef or fish. The "beef" was instead chicken and the "fish" was pasta with just a few tiny bits of seafood. When I told the server I... More

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
