This restaurant seams to be popular, as I found out if you don't have a reservation you may be out of luck, or may have to wait for a long time. However, I was lucky enough to find a table even though I went without a reservation - may be because I went right after they opened. A dish from... More

Service was unfriendly, food was ok but nothing special for local standards. We waited for the fifth dish even minutes after all were finished eating. I would not recommend this place, take a spot near the nearby cathedral, theres plenty of good options.

Stumbled on this place while in Lisbon and it was one of the best places we ate. Great music, lovely setting but most of all excellent lamb and chicken dishes.

My Portuguese in-laws brought me here in the heart of old Lisbon quite high up in a winding , cobbled street. You have to book as it gets rammed and the food is so good and tasty and the prices reasonable.

Saw this place on @migrationology. The samosas were easily the best we've ever had- Comparable to mum's gujurati filo pastry samosas! Lamb chop main was tasty, creamy and spicy (highly recommended). The makdufe was not to my taste - underseasoned and bland - the crab in it was an effort as no equipment is provided. Service is brusque but not... More

Not sure why this place has such good reviews. Other reviews make apologist arguments that they were busy and what-not. We went when they were not busy, and the waitstaff was rude and unhelpful. The food was both overspiced and bland, and my chicken was butchered so poorly. Service problems: We ask to be seated, and they say it's full.... More

Food was good value, very taste and pretty fast. The tone was a military at the beginning and could be improved with some friendliness.

We stumbles across this little beauty while exploring Lisbon. We have never tried this kind of food before and we're really really excited. It was busy, music playing and the smell from the kitchen was just wow! We tried the samosas for starters which were great (the sauce they come with is really really hot though so do be careful... This place is for the lovers of African food and atmosphere. Befitting the rather run down neighborhood of the Mouraria, the restaurant does not boast any kind of sophistication in design or furniture, and insists on substance. But the cuisine itself is extremely subtle: the flavors are strong but not simple. I think the food here should be described as... More

We do deliver to your hotel room, just call us, we speak English. The best mozambican food in Lisbon and probably in Portugal, we have been open for 30 years and we do unique food. Came and try the best chamoussas in Lisbon, the Makoufe a dish that the chef recommends and the Piri-Piri Chicken without doubt the best chicken in Lisbon for sure.Wi-Fi available inside for customers

Staying in Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria

Neighbourhood Profile
Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria
Explore narrow streets and alleyways, small cafes and, of course, the internationally acclaimed Fado music. The earth-shattering Great Earthquake of 1755 destroyed most of the city but the contiguous neighborhoods of Mouraria, Castelo and Alfama remained standing to this day. These neighborhoods represent Lisbon at its historical best. The cool breeze of the Tagus river will take you up the hills to the sound of Fado, where you'll discover the best "tascas," eat delicious fresh fish and drink great wines. Discover hidden viewpoints and ancient traces of other civilizational ruins in the heart of the Portuguese capital. These are centuries-old neighborhoods that will welcome you to the very best of old Lisbon culture.
