We tried this restaurant after several recommendations. We went at 7 pm and there was not much left and it was luke warm food. Not very appetising but certainly very inexpensive. We have one of these outlets by our apartment in San Martin so will try there.

Great prices for food/drink and the locals use this supermarket. I also used it for the hot food selection and filled rolls which you can sit in with or takeaway. Great choices and they charge you by the weight of the food - it was really cheap for a hot meal.

Sure you can eat here, but If your preference is to shop where the locals do, then this place is perfect for the ‘do it yourself’ types. The indoor Pingo Doce shopping area has a plethora of offerings from fresh fruit and veggies to beer, water and meat as well as baked items – all for a fraction of what... More

Nothing wrong with a supermarket tea, even when you're on your holidays. you'd do it at home so why not do it here. Freshly cooked and a wide range of hot and cold dishes to take away or eat in. The food has a home cooked feel about it too so you won't be disappointed.

oh boy, I was never so grateful for needing to pee so bad I had to go into a shopping centre when on holiday (a big no-no on my holiday book). It was by chance that it was also lunch time. We went into the supermarket to grab a few snacks when I saw the food by kilo - 10.59/kilo... More

Our accommodation in Funchal would be much more expensive without Pingo Doce. You can buy very cheap traditional portugal dishes and enjoy on your balcony with sea view.

Personally, this is by far the best quality value experience when it comes to any of the places where I've had meals while in Madeira. No, it's doesn't have outdoor sitting. No, there's no street views from the inside. No, you don't get to wear your sunglasses, because this in an indoor restaurant. But... You do get Lots of great... More

Perfect place to stop-by for a quick meal or a break after eating in many expensive restaurants. In Funchal, the restaurants are way more expensive than other parts of the island and this place gives you a possibility to eat low price, yet tasty portuguise food. Recommended for those who stays a week and longer on the island.
