This is our third year in Madeira and have walked past this restaurant numerous times, this time we decided to go and have a meal here, Mr Smith welcomes you at the entrance with a complimentary Madeira wine and attracts attention from the waitresses for a table for you, Service was prompt but not hurried and the menu in English,... Talked to mr smith on door in afternoon. He gave us card with 10 per cent off meal. We booked for evening and had tourist menu. It was delicious food and we were given Madeira wine on arriving and glass of poncho at end. It was value for money. We had swordfish, scabbard fish and pork medallions. Soup and salad... More

We walked in the search of restaurant to have our daily dinner, and walk past this restaurant when old man in a suit stopped us offering Madeira wine. Usually we don´t take this kind of method into account, but this was something special, Old men almost without teet smiling to us. And we went in. Here I had my best... More

During a recent holiday my wife and I ate twice at this restaurant. Lunch and a couple of days later dinner. The lunch menu was good with a choice of the tourist menu, a snack menu and the al a carte menu. The food was lovely and good value with a good range of dishes to choose from. Dinner was... More

Superb meals, service and welcome at this nice restaurant. We are indoors as it was a chilly evening in the garden. Swordfish was excellent, and the accompanying vegetables and boiled potatoes were soft, nicely cooked, and buttery! We can't wait to come back!!

We ate here for dinner and my mum ordered off the tourist menu and me and my sister had the steak sizzler.. First we got our jacket potatos which accompany the steak and then the veg came, the steak soon followed. The steak came rare but you can cook it more on the hot stone on which it's served but... Our group ate here four nights out of seven and didn't have a poor meal once. The service was polite, efficient but unobtrusive. All the staff spoke very good English. I only ate the local fish dishes but others in the group had local meat specialities and were very impressed. Good value Portuguese wines too. Would definitely return on another... More

Our first visit to this restaurant, which looks lovely from the outside. We were not disappointed. The seating areas in the garden are superb. It is a tranquil place, full of flowers and very comfortable. The welcome drink is a good start and the service is excellent throughout. The food is well cooked and with generous portions, so good value.... More

Tourist menus x 2, both have excellent choices. A la carte menu has a good range of traditional local dishes as well. Service with a smile, and attentive to detail. Why such a short review - we cannot fault this place. Cost: about 40E for three course meal with a glass of wine for two.

Our party had avocado (with too much onion) and vegetable soup (bland), followed by decent meat and fish dishes, and an apparently delicious orange cake (I opted for an unspectacular fruit salad). This was for a bargain basement 17 Euros per head though, so if you made the right choices on the tourist menu (probably salad-kebab-orange cake) you'd have a... More
