We went in a Thursday evening and certain dishes were not available. We both ordered the fish, bacalhau and robalo, with rice in tomato juice. With the house white wine, the meal was great.

Just dined here. Liked the homely feel and that it was a popular spot but felt rushed by the servers. As soon as you put down your cutlery, the plate was whisked away. Diners next to us didn't get the same treatment. Ordered the grilled sea bream and it was alright compared to the other places we tried in Portugal.... More

The staff were very helpful and the food was tasty. The fact it was more or less full..... all being locals was a good sign.

We've gone there because of reviews on tripadvisor, othere wise probably we will gone near by without stopping it and it will be big mistake. Food is really good I ate caldo verde soup and fried sardines which was really good, food going with nice vines and good deasert and everything in reasonable price. I really recomend this place.

Noticed a recommendation in lonely planet guide and realised it was fairly close to our hotel (trindade). Didn't book, turned up around 8 to find it fairly busy but table available. Prompt service, excellent food (small fishcakes followed by lovely seabass) and good value bottle of wine. Recommended.

You will find this place in the back streets and full of locals. We just managed to get a table, and am pleased we did. The food was very good, we both had fish and 1 portion of codfish to start with. Service was very good and friendly, good value for money. We would most certainly go again next time... More

We had an excellent meal here. The sea bass was moist and delicious and my husband enjoyed his turbot. We each had dessert - both good. The staff were efficient and the laconic mannerisms conceal their good humour and pride for the establishment where they work. Two course meal for 2 with 1/2 litre of wine was €24.

Our experience in this place was the most extraordinary one in Portugal. By looking at the exterior of O Buraco, nobody can say that "I can have a good meal in this place". It is on a non-crowded street far from the center but crowded with locals. We were so lucky to being adviced to try this place by the... More

I'm gluten-intolerant and the owner was most accommodating. The restaurant had a fair number of options I could eat. Could not have asked for more prompt service and both of our fish dishes were excellent and prices were very reasonable.

Our hotel recommended it as we wanted something very local. The food was sensationally good and very reasonably priced. It is of the home made and very traditional type in an unassuming place and not the fancy modern stuff but I cannot see how local food can get better that what we had. Book as it is very popular with... More
