We came for dinner. The food was good but not exceptional. Lots of potatoes and rice with the meal The portions were very large. More for a big feed then fine dining. Prices were reasonable 10eur for chicken dinner 12 for pork tenderloin.

Then i remembered this little nice place which was not far .The place remains the same like i remember it , simple, traditional ,very clean . We did order a lot of different plates to share... More

To Kafeneio is a reliable restaurant day in day out. Its suckling pig is delicious, the service is attentive and even its house wine is quite drinkable and cheap. The food in general is very good, with a variety of Greek specialties and can be relied upon while the bill comes to very reasonable levels. The décor is charming with... More

My wife and I headed here from the funicular that took us down from Lyvatakis hill. Down, down, down the stairs we went and found this wonderful restaurant in Kolonaki. Lots of bars and vibrant shops. The restaurant has both inside and outside seating and we sat outside. We ordered the Leak pie and Saganaki as appetizers. They were good... More

Here you can have good old traditional cuisine in a 'quiet way'. The menu must be the same as it was 20 year ago but the food remains good and the atmosphere is nice. The customers are mostly Atheneans and it is always relatively full.

We picked this restaurant up as it was a near by with traditional food. The restaurant is providing bit of old days decor, very quiet, clean, white ironed cover to the tables. We had a Greek salad, simple and good, eggplant with tomato and feta in the oven, tasty, and pork with potatoes in the oven, tasty but swimming in... More

We were told that this restaurant serves great traditional Greek food and were not disappointed! Can't exactly remember the names of the dishes but they were all excellent.

We came here early, 7:30 pm, and were the first diners, so a little awkward, but glad we stopped. By the time we left, the place was filling up - so don't be shy about coming a little early. A Greek salad for starters - perfectly presented. My wife had lamb with greens instead of potatoes - fantastic. I had... More

We had a really lovely alfresco lunch at Kafeneio when were were in Athens a couple of weeks ago. We shared the moussaka and a greek salad and a carafe of white wine. The food and service were excellent! Would highly recommend.

Staying in Kolonaki / Lykavittos

Neighbourhood Profile
Kolonaki / Lykavittos
By far the ritziest neighbourhood in town, Kolonaki is home to most of the chic boutiques and designer label stores. Here, the wealthy say no to austerity by dressing in their finest and spending hours in the trendy cafés around Kolonaki Square, sipping the most expensive coffee in Europe. The area also contains a couple of notable museums and cultural institutions, which add to the air of nobility. The leafy upper reaches of Kolonaki transition into Lykavittos Hill, the highest point in central Athens. Climb the paths through its wooded slopes to the tiny chapel at the top, from where you are rewarded with stunning views across the Acropolis to the sea and even the mountains of the Peloponnese on a clear day. The wooden amphitheater up here hosts regular concerts during the summer.
