Thursday evening there is live music with students playing old songs and playing guitar. Everyone says hi to everyone and smiles. The food is very nice (specially special mushrooms and pork - panceta, and special fried potatoes) you will see that everyone is ordering this. The wine is super nice. And the service is very good. You feel that you... More

It is located in small and quite road , a few meters from the central Gazi area. It has a cozy atmosphere and there are usually small groups that sing rembetika songs. The prices are acceptable and the quality is good.

This is a place where you will definately find yourself eating among locals, mainly younger people, students etc. This place has a very cosy and relaxed atmosphere, where you can enjoy many "meze", local dishes in small portions, that you share with your company. But in my opinion the dishes are very uneaven. Some of them were very tasteful, whereas... More

Nice place for drinking wine and trying out traditional greek tastes. As a local Greek I am more demanding and I consider it really good place.

In a small narrow street near Gazi, this restaurant is full of surprises. A lot of greek specialities to discover. If you go there, say hello to the best and funiest waitress ever. The menu is in greek, and she explained us with passion every single line in English. She even offered us shots of local alcohol.

This little restaurant is very close to our apartment - maybe 10mins walk from Acropolis. Complete win! It was amazing. We were the only foreigners in the place and it was clear the others all knew each other. It only has a Greek menu but the waitress was kind enough to translate the whole thing for us. All the dishes... More

We were a little nervous given the location of this restaurant but it absolutely paid off! The menu is entirely in Greek but they were more than happy to assist us in translations. Everything we ordered was fabulous! The cous cous, Greek salad and meat tray were delicious. The decor is beautiful and you will love your experience here. Highly... More

We ordered 8 of the Meze's and every one of them was awesome! The cous cous required a second order, and the large meat plate was perfect for our group of four. Throughout the night we loved the personal service and translation abilities of the staff. A great local experience in which we appreciated the Greek-only menu, but the staff... More

The food is brilliant in this backstreet restaurant. Atmosphere really chilled out and friendly. Large portions with great flavours. We had the small mixed grill and the chicken and mushroom pie in flatbread + Greek salad and took a "doggie bag" home as the unfinished portions were too delicious to leave behind. The house wine was better tasting than other... More

Staying in Psirri / Gazi

Neighbourhood Profile
Psirri / Gazi
Side-by-side neighbourhoods Psirri and Gazi provide some of the city’s prime nightlife. The almost claustrophobic streets of Psirri feature an interesting blend of original small businesses with the restaurants, cafés and bars that have recently sprouted up. The central artery of Agion Anargiron Street has lively places to eat or drink. Further west, you can visit the peaceful ancient cemetery of Keramikos, then cross busy Pireos Street to find yourself in Gazi. With the huge Technopolis performance and art complex converted from old gasworks at its heart, you really have to come at night to appreciate this maze of bars at its best, although a daytime stroll will allow you to admire the excellent street art.
