A real family run restaurant on a street of tourist traps. Hotel had recommended Kuzina next door, but it looked fake and pretentious. Attalos was the real deal, authentic Greek food, a friendly owner, free Mastika after your meal, who could ask for more!!!

Stopping for a mid-afternoon break a couple of appetizers were ordered, and without question they were some of the most unique dishes. One plate was a meatball dish mixed with spices and minced vegetables offering a unique blend of tastes. The second dish was a Red Pepper stuffed with olive oil, spices and feta cheese and cooked in the over.... More

Attalos is located next to Agora main gate on Adrianou street at 3-min. walking distance from Flea Market. The all-day service is nice and fast, waiters are really friendly. The greek dishes are tasty. Attalos is a good address for dining.

We were recommended to eat in Attalos by our tour guide. Although the restaurant looks expensive with tablecloths and wine glasses, it is reasonably priced. The entrees our group ate were delicious, and we tasted them all!! This Restaurant is in the heart of a very touristy area near the Plaka but it is definitely a good value to those... More

Stopped for a quick and late lunch. Food was better than expected and service at the right pace. Had carbonara. Unfortunately, they did not have draft beer, but botteled was also fine.

This restaurant is there for many years and is well known to Athenians. It is located at the root of Acropolis hill and if you seat outside there is a nice view of it. It is a nice restaurant with simple decoration. The food is quite tasty. The quantity and the quality of food is good enough. The staff is... More

Good food at a reasonable price with good service. We had souvlakia , one chicken and one pork with tzatziki which was very tasty. There are a lot of restaurants next to each other but this was recommended by a driver from PK Travel and I had seen this on trip advisor. It is definitely worth visiting.

Staying in Monastiraki

Neighbourhood Profile
Monastiraki is a souvenir-hunting enclave with a difference. Apart from the dramatic backdrop of the Acropolis, its network of alleys and pedestrianized streets surround the remains of both the Greek and Roman agoras, adding the quaint concept that this is where the ancients also came to shop. Named after the tiny monastery church at its center, Monastiraki Square is a lively spot by day or night, with street peddlers vying for your attention to sell you nuts and sweets. Down beside the metro station, the official Flea Market is an unbroken row of souvenir shops until you come to antique-oriented Platia Avissinias, while Pandrossou Street on the other side of the square offers more tourist shopping. The pedestrianized street beside the Greek Agora is lined with cafés offering fine views.
