We wanted to have Greek dinner - his place was recommended by locals. Really good vegetarian starters - we shared 6 plates, delicious combination and very reasonable prices.

We ate here on our first night in Athens. It's a cheap 'n' cheerful taverna, a nice stroll away from the main tourist area. We were pleasantly surprised when we got the bill: it was very reasonably priced AND they took credit cards - quite a rarity, we found. Did I mention that the food was very Greek and very... More

I read the positive and negative reviews about this place and was surprised to see such a difference of opinion. Now I've been there, I can see both sides of the picture. Simple food, quite an extensive menu, but not everything is "on", when you go. Good spirits roasted meats, what looked like a really good gyro sandwich. Drinkable house... More

Was recommended by a local and lived up to its promise. Good authentic food, decent portions and very modest prices. The starters beat mains and think the best way is to eat like tapas- a series of dishes from the starters supplemented with Kalamaki skewers. Don't miss the fried zucchini. If you are an Indian vegetarian- peas are like aloo... More

This was recommended to us by a local - with emphasis on us wanting "real Greek food, like Momma would make". We were not disappointed. Service was good, food was plentiful, good and price was unbeatable, ( even for drinks).

Huge portions. Good food. Nice prices :-). Friendly staff and mainly local guests. We stay often in Athens for weeks, and this taverna is a good one ....

Quality of meat here was nothing special. Waiter got our order wrong despite on a few tables. House wine was almost undrinkable. Very touristy. Would give this place a miss.

While visiting Athens, we stayed in the Koukaki district. We found this place by complete accident and were delighted to blend in its "not quite the touristic clientele". The atmosphere is more local (many athenians also eat there) even if the place is located only minutes away from the Acropolis Museum. You get a lot more bang for your buck... More

Ambrosia was recommended to us by our hotel, and it was our first stop in Athens. For good fresh souvlaki and Greek salad, it would be hard to beat! Great location on a pedestrian plaza allows for people-watching. A blend of locals and tourists. The pork souvlaki was incredibly succulent!

Found by accident this wonderful restaurant. Looks like many others but the cooking is wonderful. Tried many items on 2 nights and we're delighted by every item. Special was the fried courgette.
